We are splitting our stay at WDW into 3 separate consecutive reservations (changing resorts). We have 3 old park hopper passes that each have one day left on them. We are just planning on going to the parks 3 days of the trip. I had planned to have one of the two of us use one of the old tickets each day and purchasing a 4 day hopper at AAA for around $200 for the other person. We also want to go to PI and DQ, though, and would need to purchase tickets for those places (around $400 total for DQ, PI, and new hopper).
I'm starting to think we should just save those old park hoppers and purchase the advance UPH for the middle reservation which is for 2 nights ($360 total). Wouldn't that give us 3 days of parks plus the PI and the DQ? I realize we would have to crowd everything into 3 consecutive days, but with the second option, we would still have 3 park hopper passes left and the total price would be less.
Is my thinking correct? Does this make sense?

A 3 day/2 night UPH for your middle reservation would cost you $328 if purchased in advance ($164 for each). The UPH would be good from the time you check in for that middle reservation until midnight of the day you check out on that reservation. So yes, it will cover three days.

You don't say how many times you want to visit DQ & PI during the trip so I will assume once each. DQ admission is $66 ($33 each) and PI is $42.50 ($21.25 each). Add that to your AAA 4 day PH and you have a total of $308.50.

If you want to go to either DQ or PI more, adjust accordingly. You should be able to handle the rest of the math from there. ;)

I am still uncertain about what I should do. I've read in several places on the boards that UPH is usually more expensive that getting a park hopper. However, it looks like if I do things as stated above, I will actually save money. I think the only negative would be that we will be charged for the 3 days whether we go to the parks or not. We are definitely planning on going to the parks those three days. Please help me decide. Thanks

If you want to go to DQ and PI each night for 3 consecutive nights, the UPH is definitely the cheapest! If you only want to go one time to DQ and one time to PI, then buying the PH, DQ, and PI tickets separately is the cheapest way to go. We love DQ and go often, so I would definitely go UPH to save money (we would go all three days). My brother and his wife love PI and would go all three nights (we haven't gone yet because we always go with kids). They are both great fun!:teeth:

If you are able to buy your park hopper ticket at AAA, then you shouls also know that you can buy your tickets for DQ and PI at a discount. Buying them before you go with AAA, might just save you a few more dollars.

To complicate your arithmetic, when you buy single night Pleasure Island tickets at the gate, you can buy five more consecutive nightly admissions for five more dollars most of the time (I suppose New Years Eve is excluded but I haven't been there then.)

(copied from another post)

Old park hoppers should be used as-is and not applied to the purchase of new tickets or new park hoppers. If they don't fit in the turnstiles they should be individually exchanged at no cost for magnetic stripe tickets.

Be careful if you are carrying more than one ticket per family member in your pocket or purse. It is easy to acvcidentally use two hopper passes for the same person on the same day which wastes a day.
