We will be traveling to WDW in January, our trip will be eight days (Sat to Sat). While this will be our seventh trip we will be traveling with a family that will be making their first trip. We have read several places that the unlimited park pass may not be the best deal, we previously had APs but they have long expired. We planned on dropping the first and last day so we would only be paying for the days we will actually be able to go to the parks and the family we will be going with that does not have any desire to go off property, so we will not lose days by going to other parks.

We will be staying at BWV again. What are your thoughts

If you will not be returning within the next 365 days and will make use of the water parks, PI or DQ- the UMP (with 10% DVC discount) can be a great deal for up to 9 days.

Just figure out how many days you will actually use, compute the discounted price and compare with the cost of an AP or Hopper pass - depending on the number of days you will need.

We have done this twice this year for guests and saved significant $$ using the UMP.

Enjoy!

Is the DVC discount for the UMP the same as the Disney Club discount?

We also let our AP's expire, since we couldn't do renewal the old way.

We'll be down in Aug Fri-Fri, so if we drop first and last day it's 5 nites/6 days.

Not sure if we'll be back within 365 days to make AP worthwhile

The DVC discount is 10%- Disney Club is about 5%. (You can't combine the two, however.)

Enjoy!

I understand that the DVC discount off of length of stay passes is 10%, but which price do I take 10% off of? Are they the equivalent of park hopper plus passes? We're trying to determine if we should buy length of stay passes or regular old park hoppers for our trip in January.

Thanks for your help! :)

UMP's include all theme parks, water parks, PI and DQ for each of the days of their issue during your stay. They expire with that stay however.

Unused days on a Hopper may be used at any future date, but will not include all of the extras in the UMP. If you don't intend to go into the parks each day of your stay (or go to USF or someplace else offsite) the Hopper may be a better value.

The 10% discount would be deducted from the regular cost of the UMP pass- not from the DC discounted fee.

Enjoy!

What's this about dropping the first and/or last days? I thought the UMP is for the entire length of stay. We'll be down for a quick trip next week :D :D Sat, Sun & Mon nights. Does that mean we could ask for the UMP for 2 days (Sun&Mon) only? That sounds like a pretty good deal. I've never used a UMP before because we didn't want to pay for the days of arrival and departure which we would not be able to use. Thanks.

Yes, at the DVC resorts, we can drop days. Some have been told only first OR last day, but I have done this twice year at OKW and was able to drop first AND last day. The 10% discount is nice!

Thanks for the information. It sounds like the UMP will be the best for us. With the parks closing early and no e-night we can at least go to DQ (Open till 11:00). We will spend at least part of one day at the water park (only one open right now). With the discount and dropping two days it is the best deal for us.

Again thank you.

:p :p
