Please help with family fight: How bad is ORD???

I don't know about ORD, but there are plenty of quality towncar services in the airports I fly in and out of regularly---they typically cater to the business traveller. Metro Cars at DTW and Shuttle Express at SEA are both good examples: professional, curteous drivers who arrive promptly in new cars. Never a problem and dozens of trips at each airport.

We are approx. two hours away from MKE and always drive the two hours down. We park at Economy parking (approx $6.00) per day. They shuttle you over and back. It is so easy. We fly exclusively with Midwest. I use to always search to see if possibly flying out of ORD would be slightly more reasonable and we could therefore extend our vacation by staying in chicago for a few days. But I have never found ORD to that much more reasonable and certainly not but $500.00. I dont know what days you are flying out but I think if I were you I would look for more reasonable rates at MKE. Driving all the way to ORD would not be a consideration for me. Just my two cents worth.

WEll I have done the deed. . WE do "normally" use Midwest but it REALLY was 500 difference. TEd was 114 and MDWest was 207. WE will all miss the cookies dearly .


I will have to look a tthe Avistar lot. Barb I know ho often you go so I am considering you the expert. I was considering renting a car but I don't know how the drop off is..what is in terminal.

What about taking the train down? I want to say you can catch it in Racine.

I am not sure where the train ends up? The Ohare "official" site has little info. I am still trying to figure out what cars rentals are onsite.

Barb I checked out Avistar and the rest of the Park and Fly. I still am not quite sure,lol !

we just flew from Rockford, Illinois (RFD) to Sanford airport in Orlando on Transmerdian Airlines and it was wonderful !!!!!!!!! Free parking in Rockford. Baggage carts are all over so you can load up the bags at your car and walk into the airport. It's small, efficient....just great. We paid $140 rt per person last week (Dec22-29). Sanford airport was equally great. MCO-Orlando international was a zoo with seas of lost baggage. It's a nonstop flight and suprisingly served nice meals. I booked on their website and received email confirmations. We've always flown from ORD....this was heaven in comparsion.
