The time has finally come for me to make our summer 2018 DCL booking (tomorrow when it opens to the general public). We have decided on doing the 5-night double dip on the Dream in June. The cabin type we prefer is the Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (would also consider the Deluxe Family Oceanview with 2 large portholes if there is a big price difference). We think we prefer midship or forward cabins.

Is there any particular cabin/deck that you would choose over another? Which side of the ship is preferred on the double dip? Are there any "secret cabins" in these categories (probably gone by the time I can book)?

I would appreciate any comment so that I don't need to switch to a different cabin later. TIA.

On the Dream, we always chose Deck 8 Mid or Aft close to mid. Personally we prefer Port side as we always enjoyed watching the dock activities as the Dream docks in backwards, even at Castaway Cay.

The fireworks can somewhat be seen on the Starboard side should you choose a cabin there. However, they are fully viewed on Decks 11 and 12 so in
my opinion not worth getting Starboard side just for that reason alone. If you want a view of Castaway from your cabin then choose the Starboard side. Not aware of secret cabins.

Bon voyage.

Not sure of your travel party, but we always used to get the family deluxe verandah for our family of 5. Now that our girls are older, we've been opting for 2 adjoining rooms instead. We've always been on deck 8, we prefer forward over aft. But now we're going for the best accomodations we can afford, regardless of the deck. So upcoming, we have one verandah room with an inside room across the hall. DCL's website makes it easy to sort all your options. I've found aft rooms on deck 5 or 6 might be cheaper. Good luck!

ETA: On the Dream, you might be able to select a "Navigators Veranda " , which is not a true Navigators Verandah like on the Magic, but it will knock a few hundred dollars off your cabin for just a (barely) partially obstructed view with the regular verandah room.

We always get deck 9. Close to the action up top where the pool is but not right below it where you hear all the noise up there.

Personally, we prefer the extended verandahs on the after. They come with two chairs, two lounge chairs, and an end table.

We like the 8th deck mid. We always choose the starboard side. In Nassau, we have always had a view out to the ocean, but the Starboard side gives you the best views in Castaway Cay of the island. We are doing the June double dip this year and next year. Cant wait!

We prefer midship on the Starboard side Deck 6, 9.
However, we REALLY like all the way forward Deck 10 starboard. Cabin 10500 is our favorite. We are right next to the bridge and Crew cabin, under the Rainforest so it is really quiet and no one ever walks that far down the hall (unless they are staying there too of course)
