Please help with AKV Value question

We are taking my mother with us in Sept and I booked an AKV Value 1 BR before I knew she was coming along. She is disabled and will need a shower with possibly the hand-held shower head and a shower bench. Does any one know if any of the value villas have a bathroom setup like this? I called member services but the CM I spoke took didn't know. Any pics would help also..Thanks

As far as I know (based on floor plans and room reports) there are only two 1BRs in Jambo with a roll-in shower. One is a Savanna View and the other is a Concierge room. There is one HA 1BR in the Value category but it does not have a roll-in shower. Since the Jambo 1BRs have a tub/shower combo with very high sides, it could be very difficult for your mother to get in and out of the tub.

Here are the HA rooms in Jambo House. There are probably more options in Kidani but you would have to move up to a Standard View room. Plus, the 1BRs in Kidani have a separate shower stall with a seating area. The non-HA rooms there won't have a hand-held shower head however.

Thanks for the info. I called MS again this morning and spoke to another CM and he told me I would be able to get a value 1 BR with a separate shower. Is there a website or anyway to find our for sure if I can get a Value with a shower? I can't take my mom with in Sept for a week with no way for her to bathe. She's not confined to a wheelchair but she cannot get in and out of a bathtub. I can't book another catergory because I'm out of points Thanks.

The HA value 1 bedroom is not a roll in shower but a tub with a high side. If you need a roll in shower should book a standard at Kidani.

You can purchase 24 points from MS once per year at the 7 month window. I think they are $15 a point.

Do not rely on the CM on the phone. They may most likely have never even been to the resort. Value rooms are very limited in number and even fewer are HA.

I have stayed in the 1 bedroom value 5010 not a roll in shower.

Possibly but the side is very high. I did not use them so I do not remember. It did have a hand held shower. She could possibly sit on the side of the tub and swing her legs over into the tub.

Thanks guys. If there are hand-bars and a handheld showerhead I'm sure she can get into the tub with assistance and I could always take her a shower chair to sit on in the tub.

Thanks for the info. You inspired me to do a bit more digging and I found this info about Room 5010 (HA 1BR, Value):

HA 1BR with a tub. Bedroom area is the same as the regular 1BRs. Kitchen is missing the center island and has less counter space. Refrigerator has freezer at the bottom. Stove controls are closer to the front. No lounge chair in the living room. Dining table is next to the window and has 4 chairs instead of 2 chairs and the padded bench seat. Hallway leading to the bedroom and the bathroom is wider. Bathroom has only 1 small light and is very dark, especially with the shower curtain closed. Bathroom has everything in one room: toilet, shower, sink/vanity.

Thanks for the info. You inspired me to do a bit more digging and I found this info about Room 5010 (HA 1BR, Value):

The bathroom is technically one room but only because the door way between the tub/toilet room and sink does not have a door. Only door is the one to the hallway. I would have loved a door there so I girls could get ready for bed with disturbing my relaxing bath. Why when mom is tub they need to ask questions drives me crazy. There is also a closet in the bathroom.

We stayed in 5030 last year, a 1BR value with a pool view and also no island in the kitchen. It was definitely not HA. No separate shower either. The tub was very deep and could be tough to get back out of even with handles (can't remember if it had those)

We got moved from that room, and I can tell you that the tubs there are indeed VERY deep and difficult to get into and out of.

Your choices are a combination tub/shower with a very deep tub or one of the two HA 1BRs with a roll-in shower and no tub (one Savanna View, one Concierge).
