We will be going to Disney World to celebrate my daughters high school graduation in May or June 2015. We always stay offsite to save money. This way we can visit every 3 years instead of every 8-10 years. We have not been since FP+. The whole thing sounds like one huge mess. We have saved every penny possible for 3 years for this trip but will still have to stay offsite. Will I need to rent a room onsite for 1 night to get reservations at BOG, fp for 7DMT etc.? I am willing to do a throw away room for a night if needed. Please don't judge. :)

Nobody can tell you how things will look in May/June 2015.

Nobody can even tell you if the offsite 30 day window will be enough for 7DMT, and that's supposed to be opening soon. As of now BOG FP+ lunches are for onsite only, but that can certainly change long before your planned trip. The dinner ADRs are for everyone, and although onsite will get a bonus with the 180 days +10, we got our ADR a couple months away, they release them periodically it seems, not all of them at 6 months out. We really don't know much about the differences between 60 and 30 days at this point for much of anything. You'll be much better off checking closer to your trip to see what the situation is. That's plenty of time to book a throwaway room for your trip if need be. Don't stress yourself out about what's going on there now.

Deep breaths.

I don't think you'll need the thowaway room.

For starters, the are lots and lots (and LOTS AND LOTS) of people who stay offsite and manage to have a fabulous time. And a good percentage of those do so without all the knowledge that you have, both as a previous visitor and a member of the Disboards.

I think that what you need is a plan. I realize you have over a year, but there are ideas here: http://wdwprepschool.com/fastpass-at-magic-kingdom-for-on-site-and-off-site-guests/

When you get within a year of your departure, subscribe to www.touringplans.com -- and check back to see what changes Disney is making to FP+.

I think that what we're seeing now is the reaction of people realizing that they'll have to change their old ways to accomodate the new system. Change is never easy.

Relax. You have a good year for things to settle. You have time to work how to deal with the new system. You know what you're getting into.

Enjoy planning, but don't sweat the details. You'll go and have a fabulous time.
