That's just crazy. What happens to the poor kids whose parents work long hours and come from a large family where time for things like this is a premium? A kid like that could do a great job if the entire project was based on his ability but because mom or dad has to participate the child could get a bad grade. What does that teach a kid?
Well yes that would be difficult. But as a parent I expect a heavy work load. The teacher also gave us 5 weeks notice, the project is due 11/4. We roughly spent 3 hours doing the experiment today (on & off checking the results) and I bought DS a book which he read last week & picked a theme. Doing research online was another hour or two.
2. Next Friday we'll get the board supplies & I will help DS complete the report on the computer & then together we'll put the board together. I estimate half an afternoon.
But it's a parochial school so I'm used to homework + study for a minimum of 4 to 5 tests per week. DS loves his school & he's a good student so it's not so bad. But other parents also do it, bless them but they find a way with multiple kids
