Staying offsite at DL and using credit card rewards points to book a hotel so not every property is available for our mid Sept stay. We are currently booked at the Travelodge on W. Ball Rd. We did research that said it was a 10-15 min walk and near stores and restaurants. Someone on tripadvisor told me its not in a good neighbourhood and neither is the Best Western on Katella i was going to book. They advised i stay on Harbor. I am so lost I just want to chuck it....we will have a car but don't want to drive to the parks. We are looking for a hotel that is 20 min or less walking ( we are healthy adults) to the gates. I would prefer nearby stores etc but we will probably eat in the parks so that isnt mandatory. Like i said im using cc points so it has to be available on expedia, but can someone suggest some places that fit our needs and will be under $130 per night? If that doesn't exist I'm going to just plan to drive to the parks....please help!

You'll have to start by giving us the dates :) Rates are very susceptible to demand at DL, if you've coincided with a big event you might be out of luck but people here are quite knowledgeable & might be able to help you find something! (Expedia... Chase UR?)

Best western stovall's inn and possibly even Pavilions would be a 15 or so minute walk, especially without children. Are either of those the BW you are talking about? You would walk past PPH and thru DTD. We did it earlier this year with a 4yo walking and it was manageable.

I've stayed at that TL on Ball, but before the new security checkpoints. The rooms are huge and seating is in a separate alcove, which was nice. The room doors face the parking lot away from Ball and therefore also the property behind them. Not the most exciting or aesthetic setup, but fine for adults who will mostly be in the parks. The furniture also isn't super new or high quality but everything functioned. You used to be able to pass through M&F from Ball and use the tram, but I believe this has stopped. You could still enter the M&F tram stop on Magic Way and do that. I'd probably walk in the morning and enter through DTD. The only shop I can really think of is the AMPM in the gas station on the corner. Not very exciting, but one of the better stocked gas station mini marts I've been to. I think for 1-2 nights it's fine, but beyond that, you might want to look at HoJo, BWPPI, DSI, or even Red Lion down by the Toy Story shuttle.

We usually book Tropicana, Fairfield Inn and Suites, BWPPI or the one just down from it on Harbor, Sheraton Park and this time we are staying at Residence Inn Convention Center. I also always use points

$130/night might be tough to find for most places, especially if your trip is only a month away. Look at the motels south of the Toy Story lot on Harbor. At least you could ride the shuttle instead of walking the whole way if you wanted (the shuttle is free). Cortonna Inn & Suites is across from Toy Story. I've never stayed there but the rates look pretty good. I was searching with an AP discount, but they have other discounts as well.

I've been toying with a mid-Sept trip and have been checking rates. The Anaheim Hotel is under $130, but reviews are mixed (under new management and seems to be some construction/renovation going on). Pizza Press just recently moved here too (I looooooove Pizza Press lol).

I'm just worried your budget is kind of tight. And some places charge for parking. Are you driving there? Otherwise ditch the rental car.

Super 8 on katella or Alpine inn were recommended on trip advisor in that $100 thread. Check there.

Or provide hotels you can use.

Ack! Sorry OP- TOTALLY missed you said mid-Sept!! I searched Expedia & see Hilton Anaheim convention center. $97 (if 2 adults) for a 2 queen room, resort fee $1.50/day & parking is $16/day. Can take the toy story shuttle according to this old thread below and they say there's a nearby CVS. It looks like they are running some sort of flash sale so if you're interested check now. https://www.disboards.com/threads/hilton-anaheim-walk.3515312/

To be honest most of Anaheim is pretty shady and grungy as you get further from DL as the police presence gets less. If you get a 2nd floor room or higher and aren't walking around at night you shouldn't really be bothered by it. I've stayed at most hotels within a 20ish minute walk, and just know that i get what i pay for. But we are basically only in the room to sleep, so we are fine with that. We've walked the vegas strip at night and anaheim is much nicer. But if you are really worried just walk to DL in AM and Uber back at night.

Someone earlier asked about Anaheim hotel. We used to use that as our go to cheap hotel for overnight trips back when it was $60-70. The "remodel" aka paint caused them to double there rates so we haven't stayed since. Not worth it when it costs as much ad Candy Cane Inn

Which Best Western? I've stayed at Stovall's multiple times. It's not my favorite hotel, but it's not bad. Rooms are a little small, but that's it. By city standards, it's a typical city. There are homeless people. There is crime. It's Anaheim. But, I've always felt safe on the 10-15 minute walk from Disneyland to Stovalls. I've stayed there alone on a solo trip and walked back by myself at 12AM. I've stayed with my husband. I haven't stayed with my kids, but plenty of people do. Most of the walk is on Disney property and feels safe. It's only when crossing Katella that it's a little scary, but I lived in North Hollywood for a while, so not so bad if you're used to city life.

Grand Legacy is running a special. Book at least 3 consecutive nights and get 10% off plus free parking. It's right across the street.

Yeah, I have stayed at the TL on Ball Rd. The main thing is that the places on Ball Rd. are pretty isolated and as previously mentioned, the 1 store at the gas station. No restaurants that I can recall. It is a longer walk to the park as it is behind it, so you have to walk by the M & F parking structure and on through DTD. Harbor Blvd. is much more "central" and I'd jump on the Grand Legacy special mentioned above!

Was Grand Legacy a different name a couple years ago? (Not sure on the exact timing...)

Yes it was the Ramada Maingate at the Park. When Grand Legacy first opened we enjoyed our stays there and they had a breakfast room and buffet that was adequate , however now its just a snack bag and parking can be difficult if you intend to drive during the day/evening and try to park again.

I've tentatively booked a Luxury room ( in the new front facing tower) for Thanksgiving weekend Nov. 22nd - 26th but debating on staying at the Tropicana now instead for about $150 less.

I am a solo traveller and I have stayed at Motel 6 MainGate which is on DisneyWay and at Desert Inn and Suites which is on Harbour Blvd, directly opposite the pedestrian entrance to Disney.

Both of them were around the $120 per night mark when I booked them.

Motel 6 I used ART but I did see many people walking. It is very near Anaheim Garden Grove which has a good few restaurants.

If you're worried about the surrounding area, pay for a hotel with interior hallways and not a motel with exterior room doors. If you're worried about walking in the surrounding area, pay to park or pay for a hotel with its own shuttle. In reality, if your budget is for a motel and walking then you have to accept the surrounding area. Millions of people visit Disneyland every year. How many do you think stay at motels and walk? What do you think will happen?

Agree about the Motel 6 -- basic, but a good value. But I think you mean Anaheim GardenWalk (the shopping center), not Garden Grove (the city). To the OP, if you are willing to drive to the parks anyway, look at hotels in Garden Grove. There are a few on Harbor, about a mile south of the parks (e.g. Hampton Inn & Suites, Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, etc.) which are usually lower in price than the hotels right near the parks.

I'm not worried about safety. My concern is that someone on Tripadvisor told me Travelodge and BW on Katella were not in convenient locations. Yes I am using Chase Ur to book this room so the hotel has to be available on Expedia. Thank you all so much, I have gotten much more advice here than tripadvisor! Off to check out your suggestions. I may be back :)
