Please help this clueless American get to Paris

I must be doing something wrong...because I've been reading all the threads here on traveling to Paris from DLP but can't seem to figure it out.

On the Eurostar site it will not allow me to get price quotes for that route. It gives me an error saying my origin and destination are not allowed. Do they not offer this service anymore??

On the RER site, I enter my info to get a price quote and it says, "Marne la Vallee to Paris involves travelling on the Paris Metro. We are unable to sell these tickets. You can, however, travel from Marne la Vallee direct to Paris Charles de Gaulle." However, there is an article on their site that details traveling on the train between the two locations.

I wanted to travel to Paris on my own instead of doing the DLP add on trips, but clearly I don't know what I'm doing.

What am I doing wrong????

If you go to the RER station (it's just outside of Disneyland, near the bus station) and find a member of staff they'll sell you the right tickets and send you to the right platform.
We ordered a Paris Visite card online before we went but thats probably not viable if you don't live in Europe, but you can buy them at the station and it'll give you unlimited travel (RER, Metro, Bus) for a set amount of days (1/2/3/5) which gives you a cushion if you end up getting lost/taking the wrong train or think of somewhere else you want to visit whilst in Paris.

The Eurostar runs between London, Avignon, Brussels, Lille, Lyon, Marseille and Paris so its not what you're looking for.

You cannot buy TGV online because SNCF wants to prevent you from doing so too much early, eventually blocking seats for only 10 minutes in the middle of the train journey.
As estoleno advised, go to a member a staff or a ticket booth at the train station. You might even buy your ticket on board (there might be an additional fee if you do this).

it is very easy to get to and from paris using the RER/Metro. basically you don't have to prebook any of that, you just go to the station and buy the tickets as you need. the paris by train website is very helpful and the RATP app was a lifesaver for us getting around paris. Just google RATP - it's a free app - and check out paris by train. we did all of this about 2 weeks ago - super worth it!

I'm a little confused on what you are trying to do.

First of all are you trying to arrive at DLP from on the Eurostar from London? Or leave from DLP? There is a direct route from London but I don't think it is direct every day of the week. When are you traveling? Perhaps they aren't selling tickets for that date yet .

If you are staying in Paris and going to DLP from there you can buy tickets at an RER station which is housed in the same area as the Paris metro there, even the machine is easy to use. If you are traveling to DLP for the day and returning to Paris I recommend buying your return ticket at the same time so you won't have to worry about it at the end of the night.

If you are traveling directly from the Paris airport to DLP I guess I can't help you. Although when we landed in Paris there is an official tourist help desk outside baggage claim (at least at the terminal we were at) it is not a scam desk and we were able to buy a carnet of metro passes and an RER ticket into the city. They even sold the Museum Pass we wanted. It was very helpful and I'm sure they would be able to assist you with transportation tickets as well.

As others have said there is a large train station at DLP right by the entrance in which all the trains come into and there were many people that helped us when we got a little confused about our ticket to leave for London. And they were friendly too, they probably took pity on me and my poor French skills.

By what you said here (bolded) m assuming you want to go to Central Paris from DLP for a day trip - is this correct?

If so you need to catch the RER train (line A) which connects to the Paris metro system.
You don't need to book tickets for it in advance or get them for a specific timed train. The trains run every few minutes and Marne la Vallee is the end of the line so all trains run into Paris
There are several stops on route but there are about 5 stations in central Paris which you will be more interested in - Nation, Gare de Lyon, Chatelet des Halles, Auber, Charles de Gaulle Etoile

The best option is to buy a mobilis ticket which you get from the station (either the ticket office or a self serve machine) This counts approx 15Euros per adult and gives you return travel between DLP (Marne la Vallee) and Central Paris on the RER and unlimited use of the metro on that day as well.

This is the train you need to get into Central Paris so don't be confused by talk of TGV or Eurostar - they leave from Marne la Vallee but not to central Paris

Thanks so much everyone for the info - this has cleared it up for me. We are looking to travel in to Central Paris from DLP. We're still deciding if we'll go for a day trip and return to DLP or just spend a few days in Paris at one end of our trip. Our lack of public transport over here makes using a sophisticated system confusing!!
