Please help should we get the Dining plan

First off let me say that I am usually for the Dining Plan. I feel that it does save you money and is convenient! But I am not too sure about this particulary situation.

Ok this may be a long story and I apologize.

Ok we were booked for Poly GV CL for 9/19-9/25 w/ basic dining plan. But DH offered to let us go to POP from 9/16-9/19 then switch to Poly 9/19-9/25. They way they have to do the tickets so that we get dining is that for the stay 9/16-9/19 we'd get a 9 day MYW base ticket, free dining. Then 9/19-9/25 we'd get 1 day MYW base ticket and pay basic dining (we currently have 40% off code which is better than free dining)

So I was fiddling around with the numbers a 9 day MYW base is $710 and change, 1 day MYW base is like 262. that way we can get dining Total package $3751....So here is my thought why not do Pop free dining for that stay do a 10 day MYW base ticket and skip dining during the poly part and pay OOP. Total package is like 3000. I believe this is cause 10 day ticket is 719 instead of total tickets for 9 and 1 day MYW is 972.

So here is my question. Do you think the difference between the tickets would make up for the percentage (I think it's 23% on basic) you'd save on a plan? Its $253

I am really sorry if this doens't make sense. My brain hurts from this change! lol

More info....we like character meals. I have 2 adults and a 3 and 2 year old.

We are highly considering Chef mickeys breakfast, Ohana dinner, Mama melrose (fantasmic plan), crystal palace dinner (not too sure), teppan edo dinner, playhouse vine and dine (lunch), Whispering Cannon not sure dinner or breakfast.

also keep in mind when we are at Poly we will be CL so we'd have snacks and appetizer type stuff.

PLEASE I'd really appreciate the help. I'm getting a headache from this!

I am not sure if I am understanding you correctly, but I think you have a great plan. You could still pay OOP for a meal or two when you are at the POLY, but this way, you will really enjoy the offerings at Club Level. Like you say, you do not need the tickets. So why pay the $262 for the one-day MYW. And your two children will eat free at the buffets. Sounds like a great plan!

Thank you yes you get the gist of it WOOHOO i'm not insane!!!!

But we'd have to pay for DS 3 he wouldn't eat for free.

I mean what my plan is to do the most expensive dining during POP cause we'll have the dining then pay out of pocket for the rest. Does this make sense still? I mean doing the 9 and 1 day tickets getting dining for the entire trip is 3791 getting 10day free dining while at pop OOP dining while at Poly is 3000ish There is no way I'd be paying $791 OOP for 7 days worth of meals right? Figuring continental breakfast at poly the CL serves, at counter service for lunch and TS for dinner (probably not all the time but a good majority!)

It makes total sense to me. Plus, when you are at the POLY, you will be enjoying the resort and club level stuff more. Going to restaurants will be secondary or just for a special splurge. Chances are you will save a lot of money this way--you shouldn't lose any money for sure!

You are correct that you would get a better deal with the free dining at Pop and 40% off at Poly and just getting the tickets when you stay at POP. I think you can buy the dining plan with the 40% off code. Also, play with the dining numbers a bit and see if the dining plan is worth it for you. If not, see which restaurants will cost the least out of pocket and book those for when you have to pay OOP and eat at the more expensive ones while you are on FD.

I would get the free dining and tickets at the Pop and pay dining OOP at Poly (to avoid having to buy the 1 day tickets). Try to plan the most expensive meals while at the Pop and on the plan. Like you said, I think the Club Level will take care of breakfast and a lot of snacks/desserts.

Think about it, you are paying EXTRA for the dining plan b/c you have to buy a ticket. You only save that much money on the dining plan if you would have ordered those items anyhow. For example, I doubt you will get dessert with every counter service or table service meal or need that many snacks if you are staying club level (where snacks, drinks, desserts are available).
