Moderators - I don't know where to post this....please leave here if you can. Thanks.

OK. We're scheduled to fly to Orlando early Sunday morning. However, my DH is having some problems with his eye (which we think is sinus related) but the Dr. is going check him out first thing Sat. morning to see if he has a retinal tear. If he does, he won't be able to fly with us. So he and my dad will drive down and I will need to find them a hotel in S. Carolina off of I-95.

Can anyone help me???? Please??????

This is so unexpected and we won't know anything until tomorrow morning.

To make matters more crazy, tomorrow is my son's first birthday party.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Okay, we've stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Florence off I-20 and the Comfort Inn in Walterboro. I think we stayed somewhere in Santee once as well....Holiday Inn Express, if I remember correctly. Depends where they're coming from where they want to stop. Walterboro is about 12-13 hours from SE PA, Florence is more like 9-10....Santee is somewhere in the middle. I say SE PA because that's where we used to live....now we're here in SC! I know some good places here in Columbia as well....but we're about an hour off of I-95.

All of these places have a continental breakfast (the Walterboro Comfort actually has a complimentary full breakfast buffet....eggs, etc...), all are clean and comfortable. The last time we stayed at the Comfort Inn we could hear the neighboring room's tv all night though. One of those things that can happen anywhere....but I did wonder if the walls were a little thin.

I think you'll be looking at $60 to $70 for any of these rooms. About average for a I-95 stop.

Hope this helps.

how far into SC will he want to drive?

He'll probably want to drive as close to the Georgia border as possible. How long does it take to get to WDW from Florence vs. Waterboro?

Our flight gets to MCO at 9:07am and we are hoping that DH and DDad would get to WDW by noon. They're going to leave NJ between 3 and 4pm tomorrow and drive for 8-10 hours or more if they can.........

Thanks.

This really is NOT what I want to be thinking about right now......

AAA says Florence is 7 hours from WDW, if that helps you.

We're staying at the Fairfield Inn in Florence. Never been there before, but I got it for $25 on Priceline.

Sorry, that i didn't answer all of your questions, but I hope this helps a little.

First of all relax. We've driven from Philadelphia 5 times (and once from Mt. Laurel NJ once) in the last 3 years. I usually do all the driving. I normally get anywhere from 550 to 750 miles in on the first day.

I NEVER make a reservation in advance, I can't predict exactly how many miles I can get in and hate to stop if I'm not tired.

From Rocky Mount NC (appox 400 from Phila) on down to Savannah GA. (appox 800 mi) there are hotels every 20 miles, literally. Whenever I get too tired to continue, I just look for the next exit with my faviorite hotel (any of them are OK usually - normal roadside brand name types that we've all heard of). Every exit seems to have 2-3 to choose from.

I like to get as far as GA. That usually leaves 200-250 miles for the 2nd day which gets us in around noon if I get the wife and kids (3 and 6 years old) moving early :).

good luck

Sorry, It usually takes us 15 hours to get to Savannah GA. And then 5 horus the next day from there. I have a 3 and 6 year old, so we make a few potty stops. Florence is 12 hours from Philly and a good 400 miles short of Disney. Make it to Ga on the first day if possible. Stop just beyond Savannah for a good hotel. Usually around $75 a night for 2 queens.
