Alrighty - this will be our first trip and I'm totally confused about this whole dining thing!!

Here is my tentative schedule:
7/11-7/13 @ ASMo - Delxue Plan
7/13-7/17 @ POR - Premium Plan
7/17-7/30 @ WL - Platinum Plan

It's just going to be myself and my DS5. I want to be able to eat at wherever we want, however often we want. I don't mind paying to recreational stuff OOP. He's too young to do most of the tours and whatnot and it won't be necessary for him to be babysat. What do you think I should be doing as far as plans go??

Thanks!!

Are you planning to be at WDW from July 11th to 30th? or 20th? That would make a big difference for my reply. One thing for sure I wouldn't change hotels more than once. Based on what you have I'd either do the whole stay at WL or POR and WL. Packing, transferrring bags and checking in 3 times doesn't sound like a vacation to me.

The upgraded plans (Premium and Platinum) seem like overkill for a 5yo and a first trip. The deluxe dining plan should give you the freedom that you want. Cirque shows aren't a usual circus and may not appeal to a 5yo. Our 5yo got a bit scared at a Cirque show (not at Disney) so just a word of caution there. I would buy the Water Park Fun and More option park tickets so you can go to the water parks and DisneyQuest.

If you are not going to do any of the tours, there is no point in getting the Platinum and throwing your money away. We did the Platinimum Plan but we are 2 adults and have been many times. For first time visit, I think you are going to want to spend your time in the parks, discovering the World, not doing all of the spa treatments, etc that come with the platinum.

Money is not an issue for us either but I hate to just throw it in the garbage. So I would only book Platinimum if I was going to use those daily tours and spa treatments, jet ski rentals, etc.

So if I were you and you plan to eat that many sit down meals, I'd go with the deluxe across the entire trip to get the food but skip the upgrades for the activities it doesn't sound like you will be using.

The Cirque show at WDW is a great show and I would think a 5 year old, as long as that 5 year old doesn't mind sitting still for 2 hours, would enjoy the show. I wouldn't get the platinum for those tickets though; we just buy ours OOP.

Sorry - the 20th!!!!

I assumed the 20th. We took a 5yo last summer and he had a great time he has asked to go back at least once a month since we've be back He doesn't know we booked a trip before we even left WDW! He loved Chef Mickey's and had fun in all of the parks, however he asked to go to the Magic Kingdom everyday and we took him, so be prepared! From the WL you'll be able to take either a boat or bus over to the Magic Kingdom.

Fort Wilderness camp ground is next to the WL and they have pony rides as well as a nightly campfire sing along and Disney movie night. I'd settle into the WL and simply enjoy my stay; I wouldn't resort hop other than to visit. We visited WL and came close to booking there, but AKL will suit us better this time.

As you plan, be aware that you can't carry over dining credits from one reservation to the next or pull credits from a future reservation.

The credits you get for the 7/11-7/13 @ ASMo - Delxue Plan expire the night ofthe 13th.

The credits you get for the 7/13-7/17 @ POR - Premium Plan expire the night of the 17th.

The credits you get for the 7/17-7/20 @ WL - Platinum Plan expire the night of the 20th.

Hope this helps.
