I agree that of those 4, the wine is best.

What about something without a picture, like maybe scrolls? I did a search and found these - they come in different colors. Might be easier in an open floor plan, and the black would work.

Just too much time on my hands this evening! I should probably just go back to playing solitaire. ;)
Have to say I like these two choices better than any of the OP choices but we all have different tastes........The roosters to me are to Country and to busy. Like the chocolate better than the wine but then again they are just to busy and big for my tastes.

Sorry I also didn't vote cause IMO I didn't like any of them. But the first scroll one is very nice. I like that one and vote for that. :thumbsup2

I like the first one but I would just use the wallpaper and not the border.

Not a big fan of wallpaper here. Why don't you do a faux finish on your walls with paint, and then place decorative accents/pictures around the kitchen. That way when you get tired of the look, just change the accents.

I'd have to agree with this. To me, wallpaper is totally "out". Faux finishes, or just paint is "in". I'd decorate with accents and pictures to bring out the theme that you like. When was the last time you saw wallpaper on HGTV? You don't.

However, if I'd have to pick, I'd pick the chocolate. The wine and the rooster themes are too overdone - you see it everywhere. The chocolate theme is newer, the colors aren't too splashy, and you could do some great accent/picture pieces with this.

Let us know what you picked! :)

Thanks everyone for your replies so far! My house is not country in any stretch. I tried to find the most 'regal/fancy/French' roosters I could find! :rotfl:

My kitchen is very large and opens to a very large (very brown - chocolate mousse & toasted wheat are the colors) family room. I don't want the house to be monochromatic so feel the kitchen needs a little something.

Wallpaper is scrubbable, something I need with two kids and two dogs. I have faux finishing in 3 other parts of the house so don't want to faux anymore!

Thanks for your help... :grouphug: Hopefully picture is below?

Trends come and go. I wouldn't worry about what is IN and what is OUT. Just pick the thing that makes you happy! :)

Love the picture...especially like the pool! Pick the chocolate; I like the vintage label look of the chocolate brands. The coloring will blend nicely with the painted wall of the other adjoining room.

Pick what you like. :)

I'm not a fan of wallpaper either though, so it was tough to make a choice. I went with the wine pattern just because that happens to be what I like. :rotfl:

As for cleaning/scrubbing, I'd think paint would be more durable. I scrub my satin finish paint all the time with no problems (I have to with my crew!). I know you can't scrub flat paint at all, but satin's better-wearing & doesn't have a high gloss to it.

Oh, and I do have rooster pictures in my kitchen....but they're roosters with animal prints on the bodies. :thumbsup2 :rotfl: I don't believe in traditional!

Paint is very easy to scrub/clean and it holds up great when you have little kids and need to clean their handprints and messes up off the wall. I can't imagine that scrubing wallpaper would be anywhere as easy as paint and it woldn't hold up as well.

If you like the chocolate then paint the stools brown.
After looking at the picture of your lovely home I wonder with the high ceilings how much of the detail you'd see in the border?
I'd be tempted to paint the wall one color and add color with the window coverings. I think the border brings the ceiling down and doesn't accent the height, which is something I would want to do. Doesn't mean anybody else has to, just my opinion. :)
