Ok, I took the plunge. I put down my deposit for a new contract for 180 pts through DVC. :guilty: Now I am wondering if I bought too many points. It is just my DH and I and we usually only would need a studio. That would leave us around 100 pnts extra. I guess I will need to make 2 trips!! Pixie dust that the financing goes through. :wizard:

We started out with 175 points at OKW for the three of us. We also thought we would only use a studio once a year. But we bought our points for the times of the year when we knew we could get our son out of school. The first trip we took, we took my husband's parents with us, so we needed a two bedroom. Well, that shot those studio plans. We loved having the extra room, the washer and dryer. It was going to be one bedrooms from there on.

So we bought a few extra points, 75. Now we had 250. And we decided, hey, let's go in the summer, too. We could stretch those points for two trips including at least one in a one bedroom.

All that said, we now have 500, use them every year and have a ball. We're even thinking of using points at the Grand Californian for next June if we can. We'll be borrowing from our 2006 points to do it since we are out of 2005 points (Sept use year).

I'd say 180 is a great way to start out. Welcome Home!!

You know, honestly you may want to go on a second trip, or upgrade to a one bedroom.

Pixie dust to you!

Welcome Home!

You are worried now but give it a few trips! Then Addonitis will set in and you will be wondering why you didn't buy more points! :rotfl2:

That is what my husband is worried about!! :rotfl:

If that's the case.............

Definately Stay Away from the One Bedrooms! Once you have stayed in a one bedroom it is very difficult to go back to a Studio, not that there is anything wrong with a Studio but.............

janet - I love it 'I Owe, I Owe, so Off to Work I go'

I am one of the few who has stayed at both 1 and 2 bedroom but still like studio.

just look at a regular hotel room - a studio definitely beats it hands down.

my problem is I like to share my points. So I allow them to be used by family...

hey you might consider renting your extra points - so it can help pay for it.

ah, the curse of the 1 BR. It made us do a add on on our last trip. Just the two of us, and we can never go back. ;)

Thanks! or shall I say, Thanks to the Tag Fairy!LOL

Studio doesn't bother me but when you share with a Teenager, better to be in that 1 bedroom! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Upgrade to a One Bedroom.

Or, share the magic and take some family or friends with you.

Or if you've got family / friends / coworkers that prefer to visit on their own (or with whom you really don't want to share a vacation), offer to rent them your excess points. They will appreciate the savings and the great room you can provide.

Congrats on the purchase.

Congratulations and Welcome Home!

We bought 170 points and it is just the two of us. We are planning 2 trips a year in a studio - May and October or November. Sun thru Fri.

Try different calculations with your points. Don't forget about Boardwalk using Standard rooms for less points, depending on when you want to go and where your home resort is.

We originally didn't think we bought enough but then trying different calculations - it gave us more options than we thought of.

Of course what they are saying about going one bedroom and not being able to go back - I don't know, we haven't done the one bedroom yet.

Good Luck and Happy Planning!

I agree with the postings here. Try a few trips. We bought 160 and I am already thinking add on. There are 3 of us and the 1 bedroom looks great. Have a good time.

Thanks to all of your posts! We have stayed in all DVC room types including a grand villa. WHOA!!! That was nice!! It was twice the size of my first apt.! But DH and I have been very happy with a studio. Just enough room for us. And yes, we will share, maybe ;) My brother's girlfriend has never been to WDW before. Actually she has never left our fine state of Virginia! AHHH a virgin! :ssst: She doesn't have a clue what she is in for!! :rotfl2:

Shelly......

I've been through those same feelings after I purchased....
In all the excitement you always wonder if you have done the right thing..
This too shall pass... :flower:

I've found that I don't scrimp on myself and love :cloud9: staying in the studio's..and splurge on 1 bdrm's and also can stay Fri/Sat nights without the hassle of moving to save pts.!! :jumping1:

Yes..its you and DH...ENJOY!!!!!!!!! ::yes:: ::yes::

:rockband:WELCOME HOME!! :rockband:

I doubt that will be TOO MANY! We are just two of us, and we started out with 230 9 years ago. After a year, we added on another 150, and it has never been too many! We didn't buy a timeshare to stay in a hotel room, so we do stay in studios.
