Please Help Me Save The Uth Tour

We feel it is important to take a bold approach to providing our guests
with innovative entertainment. Sometimes, that approach means change.
After carefully studying the feedback we received from our guests, we
have decided to not offer the "Unmasking the Horror Tour" as part of
this year's Halloween Horror Nights(r) event. We apologize for any
disappointment this may cause. Universal Orlando(r) appreciates the
many fans of this unique tour, and we have not made the decision to end
the tour program lightly.
I've love to know just WHOSE feedback they listened to. On our group, everyone LOVED it...well, everyone except one party who appeared to be the sort that shouldn't have been there. You could tell they would find fault on a tour of Heaven.

Sad thing is, people who like things rarely bother to comment. People with negative opinions tend to shout them from the rooftops. I wish Universal would consider the fact that there is probably a silent majority here (hopefully not so silent now) that loves this tour.

i appreciate your comments.

the kewl part of the day tour was the background info you gained by going thru 3 of the houses with the lights on.

you can see all tidbits and little things that help make up the total picture in the creation of the houses.

these are things you can miss on the houses when you go thru them in the evening.

i was allowed to take as many pictures as i wanted on the day tour.

it was awesome. no other word can describe it.

and, we also in past years went to the private HHN museum besides the tented/house section that the commercials were filmed at.

one thing that universal over looks is the introduction of HHN to the ones with great fear and fright of the event.
once they go thru the houses and tour areas in the daylight, they will realize they can handle the evening. i have heard many newbies say they knew they could handle the HHN event since they did the day tour and understand how the evening works.

the money Universal is losing by taking away this ideal feature is so sad.
i'm sure more newbies would attend HHN if they could be involved in the day trip feature.

i started doing the day tours when they were first introduced.
have repeated them as each year 's houses and themes are different.

when an addicted HHN homie as i am is deprived of the day tour, tears fall.

Great memories indeed! I see the back of my head in one of those!:yay: Despite going through numerous channels trying to "save the tour" from what I understand someone high up in management had something against it for some reason. There is no way that it was a financial liability as the tour cost next to nothing to run and I am quite sure that it made money. I also know that TJ and the creative team had nothing to do with its demise and were very disappointed in it's cancellation. They really enjoyed the interaction with the fans. But unfortunately they answer to a higher power. Maybe a few months before HHN next year we can start some kind of campaign to bring it back.Let them know that we haven't forgotten. Just my thoughts

it was more of a financial situation that they discontinued the tours. In the end, the profit margin was extremly extremly small.

Well, I have been looking all over the USO website trying to find info on the afternoon tours. Of course I could not locate any, because there was nothing to find. :sad2: I knew I would find out the info here! ;)
I e-mailed the two addys. I know it does not help bring it back now, and maybe not ever. But at least I let them know my take on it.
I was less than impressed with HHN last year and had decided to only go this year with an afternoon tour. (We had taken one of the tours a few years ago.)
That saves us some $ as there is no tour. Hence we will pass this year. I am taking a wait and see approach. Won't kill me to miss one year.
We did not renew our USO/IoA PAPs because we were holding off for HHN. No need to renew now either. (We were rather honked off that PAPs did not even have a Simpson's preview. :rolleyes1 )
So LOTS of $ saved on our end.
No PAP to purchase.
No FFP.
No meals and souvies buying.
No tour tickets.

ANY scare zone HAS to be better than last year. They could not possibly be worse. Way too much dead space last year, and the theming just did nothing for me. Don't care about the freak show. And how many times do I really need to watch RHPS? :rolleyes1

I am keeping on eye on the web page for HHN and will watch HHN this year through your eyes. :3dglasses

Well its safe too say they are not bringing it back.:sad2:

Hey mods anyway you can close this and put the food thread here instead, please.

Always got newbies asking about the food at US~IOA~CW!!

Just a request!!:thumbsup2

Maybe they'll bring it back next year. Wishful thinking I know. :thumbsup2

why not keep this open as a reference for the possibility of it returning?
i'm starting my campaign to "bring back the tour" for 09 later this year.

i really missed not having that tour this year....:sad1:

I for one don't think we should stop the pressure. It was a ridiculous move to stop this tour; even if it's not the most popular one overall, it would be something USF could do as a nod to the most rabid fans. Every time I go through the houses and am hustled through, I wish I could stop and appreciate the wonderful detail. Even tho' the tour only included three, it was awesome to see just how much work goes into those houses. The lights on tours were probably the only time it gets the recognition and appreciation it deserves!

I'm not closing this thread but I am going to UNstick the topic.
