Yeah yeah, I'm a local, I go to the parks weekly but this time I need help! :ssst:

I'm trying to think of the name of one of the Japanese restaurants.

OK, let's say you are standing facing the Japan pavilion, with SSE behind you, the store is to your right. There are a bunch of stairs that go over the store and that goes to the restaurant where you sit around one of those tables where they cook your food. OK, that is NOT the one I'm asking about :)

On the left, there is something that I believe is also a restaurant. It's kind of hidden. Which one is that? Is that a counter service restaurant? Is it a table service one?

It's a CS restaurant called Yakitori House, up behind the koi fish pond.

And it's a hidden gem. Very good for counter service.

Thank you so much! :) That rules it out for a birthday dinner then.

Biergarten is a great place for a birthday outing (if you want to spend that much $$, of course). Great party atmosphere there, long tables for big groups of people. And of course, the oompa band! Oh, and the food is awesome.

I'll have to remember that for some other time, it does sound like fun. I figure that if I'm going to spend that kind of money for a birthday dinner, it might as well be calmed atmosphere which is what made me think of that restaurant.

I tried Le Cellier (sp) but that one is all booked up already. I thought of Ohana's, and we love the food, but the games for children got a tad annoying after a while. I've heard that the Coral Reef is a tad overpriced and I have a weird feeling about eating fish while they are swimming near me! :)

The search continues....

Ohhhhh, I see...you're looking for a quiet place for two? I just assumed it involved kids or extended family or something.

Jiko would be great for that. Or, if you're looking to do it in EPCOT, you're right - Le Cellier is good for that sort of thing too.

Flying Fish or Spoodles on the Boardwalk are great too, if you're looking for an Epcot area restaurant.

Quite dinner for two? Have you thought about the San Angel Inn in the Mexico pavilion? It's dark, quiet and you can ask for a table near the water.

We are having DH's birthday next week at Rose & Crown in the UK pavilion. Something new and fun. We are going to request an outside table so we can view illuminations, if possible. We also LOVE San Angel Inn for the atmosphere. You can't beat it. The food has been great in the past but it was ok on our last trip. I'm hoping it was on off day.

Well, I ended up making a reservation at Artist Pointe. We've never been there and I thought that a birthday may be a good excuse to check out a slightly more expensive restaurant.

I made a reservation for 6:30 pm so that maybe we could then go on to the MK to walk the dinner off and still make it home at a decent time since we both have to work the next day.

Oooo - I've heard (maybe saw a special on Artist Pointe?) and it sounds very nice!!

I was going to suggest Kona Cafe (Polynesian) - great drinks like 'Ohana but no kiddie games. Good food but rather casual.

Artist Pointe looks a little more upscale and special. Have a WONDERFUL TIME! :sunny:
