We are headed to WDW in about a month. I have made all of our ADRs, but can't decide what to do concerning a character meal. We do not have one planned, but I think my DD (3) would enjoy it. I was thinking of making a breakfast reservation at Cape May. If I do this, I will need to cancel one of our reservations (at Boma). What does everyone think? I keep going back and forth because I think DH wants to do Boma (we've never been there), but he said it's no big deal to cancel it and do the character breakfast he just worries that DD won't pay any attention to the characters. Oh, decisions, decisions.:confused3

Do cape may my son loved it at 3 last year!!! They are only young once!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a three year old will very much pay attention, actually be very excited, to see the characters at a meal. Kids can be different but my son's first trip to Disney was when he was three and a half. My daughter had just turned three for her first trip. For both the character meals (and seeing characters at other places) were big thrills.

If you have the funds avilable... I would highly reccomend paying out of pocket for breakfast (which is cheaper) at either Crystal Palace (Whinnie the Pooh), Chef Mickeys (Fab Five) or Ohana (Lilo, Stitch and Mickey).

I would go to Cape May. We went for the first december and have already planned to go again next trip. The food was delicious and the character interaction was great. It was a suprisingly relaxing meal. One of our favorite character breakfasts! Enjoy whichever you choose! :thumbsup2

When you have young kids disney starts to become all about them, go to Cape May and do the characters for your daughter.

Character meals are the best way to be up close and personal with all the characters!!!! My kids loved them at 11 months and at our most recent trip with a 4 and 2.10 month old so....she will love them!!!!
Cape May is great and I would also recommend Crystal Palace (MK and they have meals all day with Pooh and friends) or O'hana at the Poly...they even do a parade which my kids joined in and loved!
She will only be 3 once and to see her face light up when she gets to see those characters is priceless!!!!

DD was reserved but interested at 2...

And we expect her to be bouncing off the walls when we go in April when she is 3. So I think character meals are definites!

But do you have to give up Boma? To me that's a must-do!!

Why can't you do both? Obviously if they are for the same day/time that wouldn't work, but as someone mentioned paying OOP for the brkfst is a good idea.
While I do agree that kids are only young once and it is for them.....it is also for you and your husband. Just because you have kids doesn't mean it is all about them. You have to take care of yourself and your DH so that you can be better parents for your DD.
Vacations for us is about compromise, everyone gets a say. We split meals up, we all get a say, that way everyone is happy.

And one last thing I think Crystal Palace is a better character meal. With Pooh and friends, along with the food you can't go wrong.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I don't have to cancel Boma, but we are taking my SIL (18) with us and are afraid to do too many ADR's with her because we don't want to have to end up paying most of her food because we are going to several expensive places throughout the week that we have never tried. We are not doing the dining plan either, so everything will be out of pocket.

After reading the posts and seeing the pictures, I decided to cancel Boma for this trip and do Cape May for breakfast. We are doing Le Cellier and The Hollywood Brown Derby as well as some others that DH and my SIL wanted so I think giving up Boma this go around will be worth it. Hopefully my DD will enjoy!

Again, thanks for all the input!

Boma is awesome and the AK Lodge resort is super cool. It's a great place to see and to eat! Id pay out of pocket for a character meal or cancel a different ADR. My kids loved character dining so much at 4 and 10. We always plan character meals...tehy all have food that is good so the parents enjoy it too. For brkfst, Chef Mickey, Ohana with Lilo and Stitch or Crystal Palace are great fun.

I'd just like to know how you are going to Disney with a DD who is 3 and not doing a Princess meal ??? :lovestruc My DD discovered these on our first trip and now we have to do one every time :lovestruc (I hope you can tell Im joking :) )

Oh, I wanted to do a princess meal! My DD would rather have lunch with Jack Sparrow then any princesses! :lmao:
