I am so perplexed. We have an AP rate at POR King room for 110.00 per night. If I get the Hotwire rate at Dolphin it will cost me about 83.00 per night(including resort fee) Really like a King bed though. What is a double/double room? 2 double beds? The swan has 2 queens in there hotel but the AP puts us over the top for this trip.

Please those of you who have stayed at these resorts recently, where do you think we should stay? (we have five glorious nights without the kids to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary) Any hints or tips for getting a King at Dolphin with hotwire rate?

Thanks!

Depending on how busy the Dolphin is when you check in you might be able to swing a king (no pun intended:))

You can tell them when you check in that it is your anniversary, if there's any possiblility of a king room being available? That you'd be willing to pay $30 for an upgrade (that would put you at the POR rate)--they might work with you or even upgrade you depending on availiability.

Of course, nothing is guaranteed that way but I would take the Dolphin over POR anyday. We stay at the Dolphin a lot and have once stayed at POR and I just don't think there is any comparison. POR is pretty but the Dolphin just has so much more to offer and is in the middle of everything. Especially with an adult trip there's so much to do at the S/D and EPCOT resort area.

(The 2 doubles is 2 double beds).

I've found that the receptionist usually ask if you want a King or Double at check in. I don't think you'll have a problem receiving a King size bed if you ask at check-in.

I'm at the Boardwalk Inn right now and stayed the first night at the Swan. I've stayed at POR twice before. Weighing all of that, I'd choose the Dolphin over POR anytime, especially at that rate. We paid twice that for the Swan Monday night and it was well worth it. Beautiful and classy! I even like it better than the BWI!
Good luck with your decision. The Dolphin is huge and I'd think a king would be no problem!

We love POR, but the Epcot resort area is our favorite. I would suggest joining the Starwood Preferred program. We've stayed at S/D 3x at a discounted rate, and every time they have worked hard to get us an upgraded room. I believe the king room is priced the same as the standard double (?), so there is a good chance they will try to grant your request without any additional charge.

Thanks for the support. One question though, we are checking in on a wednesday night after 8pm does that skim the odds alot do you think for a King room? We are starwood members (brand new). What do you think?

You can make your request in advance to checkin by going to spg.com and eamiling the Dolphin. Since you are not checking in until 8:00pm it may be worth it to email. Good luck

Thanks. I went to the website and did a general e-mail. Can I specifically e-mail the Dolphin from that site as well. If you can instruct me on this I'd appreciate it.
