I have narrowed my search for a new camera down to the Sony Cybershot DSC H20 and Canon Powershot SX110 IS. Both have a 10x optical zoom and 9 or 10 MP. The Canon has a manual pop up flash. That concerns me a bit. What if I forget to pop it up? I want to be able to take shots quickly for sports and such. Both are compact. The Canon has the SD cards and AA batteries. Sony has pro duo card and lithium batteries.

Any input would be appreciated! :confused3

I have never used a Canon, but I have a Sony bridge camera and my sons use Sony P&S. We have been very happy with them. The Sony bridge I have is the DSC H9 and it is a wonderful camera. I highly recommend this one, so I would assume the H20 would be just as good. :)

A pop up flash is only effective for about ten feet, so it is very unlikely that it would be effective for sports. Honestly, if you were close enough, I believe a flash would become too dangerous to use on an athlete. I know I would be pretty mad if a flash went off right by me when I was trying to concentrate on my competition.
