Unfortunately we can't make it to WDW this year but it's my boyfriend's 21st birthday and I want to do something really special for him. We live in the UK. I know they've stopped the engraved paving slabs at MK but this was the kind of thing I was thinking of. Any ideas? :)

Hi. I don't know if you can purchase the stones anymore. Disney does have wonderful private boat cruises you can take and watch the fireworks. Some can have food and some don't. My husband and I did that on our honeymoon. Also, dinner in the castle is a nice way too. You can also book a lunch with an imagineer at the Brown Derby. That was a great experience because it's a small group and you get a great sovenier. Good luck planning a special birthday!

So I could be wrong but I am understanding that you are not going to WDW but want to do something disney related for his birthday?

That's right we won't be in WDW so I wanted to get something Disney related that I can purchase online :)

How about 1 share of disney stock. you could have it framed? Or maybe a D23 subscription? Or if you are really looking to spend some serious cash, a few shares of dvc?

Thanks for the ideas Deesknee! :) How do I go about buying a share of Disney? And what is D23? Is it a magazine?

You are very welcome. D23 is a membership for disney fans. there are two different "levels" ...gold and silver. the website is below.

I will have to try to remember how I got dh his share of disney stock. I'm sure any stock broker can do it, but I'll see how I got mine. I think I had them frame it and everything.

btw, happy 21st to you DBf

I believe I ordered our 1 share of stock from oneshare.com

Good luck!

I've got a couple of ideas to add to those already suggested:

1) Themed birthday cake. Could be done by simply decorating with icing (something or someone Disney) or if you are ambitious it could be something elaborate...for example, one year I carved my DW a castle cake and as it turned out, she loved it so much that we didn't cut or eat it.

2) Order some Mickey and Minnie ears to wear during an homemade dinner of his favorite Disney restaurant dish.

3) Watch his favorite Disney movie at home, pop some popcorn, lower the lights, etc.

Heck, why not combine all the ideas.

Hope this helps

I buy shares through Halifax Sharebuilder...you can do everything online and it is pretty simple to buy and sell shares.

Or, I know it's not the same but how about a weekend at Disneyland Paris?

Thank you all soooooo much for these ideas! They're great and very helpful. I think I shall try and combine them all. Really appreciate all your advice! :cheer2:
