Ok I am brand new here I am going to Disney world for the very first time in March for a family reunion. Since husband and I don't & can't have kids we want to spoil our nephews and nieces we are planning on doing WDW welcome gift bags for them. I was hoping for a few Suggestions of what to put in them here's what I have thought of so far:
A bag like beach bag duffle bag or back pack
Beach towel
Sunglasses
Fleece blanket
Pillow
Lanyard with wallet
Starter pins
Autograph book
Stuffed animal or doll
Night light
Pj's or night gown
Slippers
T shirt
Misc stuff like temp tattoos, bubbles, stamps

I am doing them in themes as best I can like princess, pirates, tinkerbell, cars, mikey, pooh and so on

Any feedback would be great, let me know what you did or anything

Thank you

Here's a few things off the top of my head:

Disney coloring books
Disney crayons ($1 in the dollar section at Target)
glow bracelets/necklaces (Dollar Tree)
Pressed penny book
Disney Jibbetz (if they have crocs)
Disney pencils, stationary, etc.
Disney toothbrush
Disney playing cards

I am fixing a giftbag for my DS (2) for our October trip.

I would love to hear other peoples ideas or things they've found with the cars and/or pirates theme?

I see someone already posted glo sticks...

-how about legos? Downtown Disney has a HUGE lego store. My friends bring their children there on the first night of their stay to buy some, then they have something to play with while they are there.

-if you are near a disney store they have those battery operated little twirly things that light up... they also have headbands with mickey heads that light up.

Hey, you sound like an awesome Aunt and Uncle to your neices and nephews! ::yes:: How fun for all of you, hope you all have a great time! :mickeyjum Isn't it just so fun to plan great surprises like this?! :goodvibes Here's a few ideas, some I had posted in another thread, and more:

*fun disney character lights to hang at home and/or in their disney room.
*decks of cards from dollar store with disney characters on them such as *princesses, mickey/minnie, pooh and friends
*a disney character mug or glass, plate, fork/spoon to use at home
*a fun disney character t-shirt
*disney character socks
*princess costume, pirate costume, etc...
*princess jewelry
*disney character watches for kids, good to help keep track of time
*disney music cd or dvd movies
*disney planning dvds to get them excited before the trip
*favorite character xmas ornament, fun way to always remember their trip
*disney stickers
*if you get there before they do, grab some character candy such as goofy's gummy bears that actually look like mickey and minnie, character mints, suckers, chocolate candy bars, mickey pretzels,
disney postcards to keep as little posters

I like the beach towel idea, we buy 2 or 3 every year and use them for showering everyday, so it's a great souvenier that can be used often!

Also, here's one of my favorite things. You can send it to them ahead of time to help them count down the days in the month before the trip.
Copied from a post I put in another thread:

'One of my favorite things was the countdown calendar we made for the first time last year. Got the suggestion from different posters here on the dis. Here's a couple pic. The first is just after I made it, and the second is when we had been counting down for a few weeks. We put a sticker on every night before bed, counting down the days till we left for the 'happiest place on earth!' I think we'll do this everytime we go from now on. I want to get ours going for this year already, but it's way to early I guess, we still have 5 months before we go! :rolleyes1 ' Btw, we went on last Nov 9th and started our calendar 31 days before that.

Oooh these are great ideas thank you so much!I love the twirlly light things, the Disney candy and watches all of it and I am going to make sure and use the countdown calendar. Do you think it is better to do a lot of small things or some big things like the blanket and pillow. With w smattering of fun small stuff

Well, I think it's obviously based on what you can afford. If I was doing it and could afford it, I'd like to do a couple big things, like the blanket(always fun to snuggle in, kids love them, and a souvenier used often, not up on a shelf), pillows are great for watching tv, a beach towel, (we use daily for the shower), pjs are fun, and I'd have lots of small things too. Like I said, it could get expensive, but if you can afford it, go for it! I like having a variety of things, with things that can really last and are a good value cause they can be used everyday, plus cute fun play things that probalby won't be used too long, but are fun and kids love. Clothes won't last too long, as they grow so fast, but are cool. How about books? They have all sorts of books in lots of age/reading levels such as princess book, pirates, cars, nemo, hannah montana or Jonas brothers, etc....Games, or like a disney uno lots of people can play, candy or snacks, books, small toys, and stuff to use in the parks, and stuff to use while at home and snuggling down for a cozy nap, ready to dream disney dreams! Sounds awesome! They will really love these, I'm excited to hear what you put in them and their reactions! How many of these will you need to make? Have fun doing this, it's a great idea! :cool1:

My sister bought the dark blue drawstring backpacks online at the official disney site. They were about $5 each and have the word Disney World spelled out in characters and such. Very cute and very affordable. We stuffed all of their goodies (we made a couple personalized shirts for each of them ((visit DISign board - they are a wonderful group of extremely talented ladies who will personalize designs for you to print and iron on shirts!)), glow sticks, gum (isn't sold in Disney), etc.) Can't wait until September!
Also, there's new tattoo paper that can be personalized and printed just like the tshirts. I made the boys personalized tattoos!

Thank you so much you have given me so many good ideas do you know where I can find that tattoo paper?

Between my DH and I we have 20 nieces and nephews but we are not going till March and I have been collecting stuff at sales online and dollar stuff since I found out we were going!

Thank you again everyone!

Wow! Twenty nieces and nephews? And your making all of them these awesome gift bags? Bless your hearts, you guys are amazing!! :wizard: :tink:

I have purchased the following for my sons:
2 drawstring disney cinch saks from ebay about $1.99 each
autograph books off of ebay $ .99 each
from dollar tree: 2 disney paddles with balls, 2 light up disney yo yos, 2 disney activity books, green glow sticks
Also went to party city to get the light up twirly things that were $3.99 each, I have also made thsirts that are personalized for each day, themed accordingly to what we are doing and made/printed invitations that were personalized for each restaurant and reservation times we are going for each day...tinkerbell will leave them one each morning when we wake up, so they will know where/what we are doing for the day and the matching shirt!

We also signed up for a 'fairy godmother' who just got back from disney and sent them autographed postcards signed from mikey mouse himself! they will get this on the plane when we finally tell them where we are going :rotfl2:

I will try and not repeat but forgive me if I do...

This is a few items in my kids surprise backpacks...

Disney Pez
Disney Fruit snacks
Disney Magnadoodles (travel size)
Disney puzzles (Dollar Store carries these)
Disney Etchasketch (I found these at Walgreens)
Disney Fuzzy posters (Small ones from Dollar Store and Walmart)

I just got small/mini backpacks at TJMaxx: Princesses for $4.99 and Cars for $9.99 (the Cars is small and the Princess is mini). They actually had several Disney things.

How about a guide book? I don't know the ages of the kids...but they have the WDW for kids....lots of pics, lots of things to look forward to....that may be a good Christmas gift (so they can plan!). You can also get park brochures and maps ahead of time...again, to build excitement!!

My girls carry their own fanny pack (they are red with the stuffed minnie around the waist) with autograph books, pen, little snacks, sunglasses, a little spending money/disney dollars. Their parents might appreciate that, mom/dad won't have to carry so much around!

Thank you all for all the great ideas I will be using many of them I found a great thread on the weddings one that talked about welcome bags and one lady made Terry cloth beach bags (way cute) I think I will be making these for the bags (I can't figure out how to put in the link but its under Disney weddings and the thread label is welcome bags) I really hope you all understand how much I appreciate your help I will be posting pictures of the bags and contents once I get them done but keep the ideas coming for contents I love all of them

How about inexpensive disposable cameras? Last summer when we took the 2 grandkids, I put a disposable camera in each of their goody bags. I found a template online for covering them (like the wedding cameras you see), bought a sheet of scrapbook paper and used that to cover each one, then personalized each one with Disney stickers.
