Plus, I'm still totally puzzled as to why Bonnet Creek was rated #41 out of 346 hotels on Trip Advisor if everyone is raving about it??!! Any thoughts?
Happy to see you're getting lots of advice!
I'm not bashing Bonnet Creek, I'm sure it is a great spot. However, things may have a fan following on these boards, which make them sound better than they are. This doesn't mean it's a lousy hotel, but I keep telling people they have to experience things at WDW for themselves for a "real feel". I've had my expectations set too high by reviews here too many times, then I show up and am let down.
There was a thread in strategies about research vs reality. Some people think Hilton is a great brand, but I prefer Sheratons and Westins which I feel are a tad more refined.
I prefer checking on sites like tripadvisor and hotels.com for the "user ratings". If I see a place has hundreds of reviews and has maintained a high user rating, I can make a better guess, because that many more people went out of their way to make a POSITIVE review. Usually people only bother to log in and comment when they want to complain.
#41 is pretty good considering all the hotels in this area, and there are hotel brands here that will make WDW resorts look like a Days Inn.
