I had a potential bidder ask if I would ship to the UK on an item. I have never shipped outside the US, so I have no clue how to go about it. When I checked the USPS website it said to ship the item it would be 15.00 for Global Priority and 20.00 for Airmail Parcel Post. Is this right?! The item is a Disney Princess swimsuit, matching sandles, terry coverup and a package of swimmers (diapers) all in a 6mo size so it isn't big. It weighs between 1-2 pds. I wouldn't mind expanding to include worldwide bidders, but don't want to mess it up the first time LOL. What forms should I expect and do I just use the regular packaging for priority? Is global priority the same as our priority? Should I just buy a tyrek mailer to use? Does DC work the same? Am I forgeting anything?? Please Help!!

TIA, Angela

$15.00 is about right. Unfortunately the swimmies are big and because of this, won't fit the the large Global Mailer (you can get free at the post office). You see, they have a small mailer ($5.00) and a slightly larger one ($9.00), and it doesn't matter what it weighs, just needs to fit in it. You will need to put it in a larger package and for 2 lbs. $15.00 is right for Global, and a little less for Airmail ($13.30).

You would also need to attach a customs form. If the package weighs over 4 lbs. you need an invoice of everything inside.

I would add a little to your quote for going out of your way. Or perhaps don't offer International shipping on such a large package.

Hope I have helped.

Hi, I'm a frequent E Bay buyer/seller from the UK and have made successful transactions both ways with Global Priority.
I bought swimwear from the US for DD (5) last year and global priority reached us within about 4 days. I think $15 sounds pretty standard for what you're wanting to send.
Somewhere along the line I think it asks on the customs form if this is a gift - it may cost less if you say yes ;-)
If I'm posting to the US I buy either regular or padded envelopes, depending on the item, and just get the package weighed for postage payments etc.
Please try not to worry, in my experience it's no more complicated than posting within your own country :-)
Good luck :-)

Thanks guys, I would like to expand to include worldwide shipping, but am always scared to try something new LOL. This is the email I sent back to her. It gives her as much as an estimate as I can give and should give her time to bid before the auction closes Mon night. Does it sound ok?

Hi there, I have never shipped outside the US so please bare with me. The post offices are closed for today so I can not give you a definate shipping quote. From what I understand on their website, it should be between 11.00-15.00 to ship to the UK. I have no problem shipping to the UK for you and could give you the exact shipping cost on Monday morning if you would like. I don't want to guess and then charge you too much. Just let me know what you would like to do. Thank you for your interest in my auction and I hope you have a wonderful day!!
Happy Bidding,
Angela

Thaks for your help on this!

Sounds perfect to me :D
Guess you don't have anything in an age 6-7 before we travel over at the end of the month
Seriously though, perfect. It gives her every chance to bid or re-think. Plus, if it's something we really, really can't buy over here she/he has the chance to decide whether or not to go that little bit further and buy.
