I have no idea how to search this so here goes:

DH all of a sudden wants to leave a day early for Disney. If we fly in and stay at a hotel near the airport for the first night, what is the best way to get to POR the next day? We don't want to rent a car.

Our current flight has us waking up at 3:30am and dragging DD5 to DHS on little sleep. Since Southwest lets you change flights with no fee we can leave the evening before. I don't want to without knowing as much as possible about the logistics.

I appreciate any help!

It depends on what to mean by "best."

Fastest: take a cab to POR

Cheapest: get back to the airport and take DME.

I was wondering if you could use DME the next day. Good to know, thanks!
We often fly into the MCO airport the day/night before our Disney vacation begins. We stay at the Hyatt Regency hotel (right inside the airport) the night before (nice to swim, have dinner, go through Disney stores in airport). The next morning we wake up refreshed and get on the DME for our resort. I *think* our TA just books a 'dummy' flight time for the morning so the DME knows approximately when to expect us. We love taking the DME so I would rather do that over renting a car anyway:-)
Have a good trip.

We've also flown in late the night before and stayed at the airport Hyatt. The kids think it's high-larious that there is a hotel inside the airport. LOL. When I call to set up DME, I just list the first incoming flight into MCO the morning that I actually want to take DME as my incoming flight. Delta in particular has some super early flights, and then you can leisurely make your way to the bus in the morning. Other people just tell DME they're not needing transport until the morning, but for me, it's easier just to look up a flight and plug that information.

So here's the update: We changed our flight to the day before and it's for an arrival to MCO at 9am (same time as other flight was). We're thinking about staying that night at Pop since it's the same price as an offsite. If you split stay do the resorts transfer your bags to the next one?

The Hyatt sounds like an awesome idea, too. Would we be occupied enough if we went that route?

I wouldn't stay at the Airport hotel if I was getting in that early. If you stay at Pop, they will transfer your luggage for you when you check out. However your bags might not be available until late afternoon, so keep whatever you need for that day in your park bag.

Or you could take a taxi to your new resort, bringing your bags with you. You could leave them with bell services if your room isn't ready.

Thanks for all the info, everyone. We decided on Pop Century for one night. Can't wait!!!! :D
