Please help! car insurances

I think Ive opened a can of worms for myself.
Trying to decide who to rent my car with - looks probable to go through usrentacar but the insurances are driving me mad.
I want gold insurance and online there are differences between Dollar/Budget & Alamo Gold insurance, but when I rang the office I was told that they are the same, how can this be so?
Please correct me if Im wrong (and Im sure yu DISsers will) I need CDW - LDW - SLI -UMP
Now do I need extended protection - 3rd party liability?
And finally what are these Consumer Facility Charges (What!) Handling Fees, Environment Taxes
I get the Local Taxes, Airport Taxes, Homeland Security Fees.
You see I opened a can full of worms, I was only trying to see if I could get my 21 yr old Son on as a driver, wish I hadnt bothered now.
Anyone, please Help!

WHat do you mean by Extended protection, I cant find that on US Rentacar site. I think this can be a package of additional covers which can be added to basic car hire but from the UK they are normally covered.

The Consumer Facility Charges (What!) Handling Fees, Environment Taxes are additional fees and taxes associated with the business which the car hire companies have to pay, they list them like this but they are a part of the cost of reunning this business.

Be carefull because they try to get you to have things you don't need. We were stung the first year we went. Try going into a travel agent to see what they advise because their packages include every thing you need. Good luck

USRentacar - Alamo Gold insurance for 7 seater minivan says : CDW - Extended Protection - 3rd Party Liability - Sales and State Tax, Airport Fees, 3 Additional Drivers, Unlimited Mileage, Tank Fuel. And unfortunately Andy I cant find (maybe you can, which will be a help to me) anything that says these are additional covers.

there are two types you can get one is for one driver and you have to pay for the tank of fuel,
the outher is for extra drivers and a free tank of fuel

Almost right Paul.
USrentacar have special arrangements with some companies that include an additional driver without having to take out gold(usually better taking gold anyway with cost of gas going up so much)
a few of our suppliers include 1 additional driver within the fully inclusive package, they are Budget, Dollar and U-Save.
The gold package includes multiple drivers.

I think you will find this is a matter of what things are called , in your original post you said CDW - LDW - SLI -UMP but the Alamo gold says; CDW - Extended Protection - 3rd Party Liability I think extended protectionfor alamo is the LDW part., also if it is included in their gold package why are you concerned you need it extra?
