This is for a one night stay post-cruise, and we will be resort based with a 3 year old and an 8 year old.

For our main pre-cruise holiday we will have done a long stay at the GF and we are absolutely certain that this is the perfect choice for that part, primarily due to its location.

Loved the look of both AKL and YC all along but ruled both out due to AKL being next to nothing and Epcot area (YC) not being our main focus with our little girl. For us it had to be a monorail resort while doing the parks.

This leaves us a dilemma over which to choose for our last resort-only bit, as obviously location is not relevant for that part.

Any opinions would be extremely welcome!

What time of year are you going? If you are going in the warmer/hotter months that is a hard choice as YC/BC have the best pool area on property. If you are going in the winter months when swimming weather can be iffy, AKL would be our choice hands down. Still for a one night non park stay, I think I would pick an AKL Savannah view room. There is nothing like looking out the window of your room and seeing giraffes!

For a non-park stay, my vote is for AKL. It's a gorgeous resort - a destination in itself. YC is great for its proximity to EP and the pool is nice, but it has an older, convention crowd. Wouldn't be my top pick if not visiting a park.

My choice would be AKL. I like how it's sort of isolated from everything as it makes the resort quiet and peaceful, IMO. I also agree with a pp that there is a lot to see and do. The lobby is beautiful and there are several animal viewing areas around the resort. The dining options are good as Mara has great options for quick meals/snacks and Boma is great for a sit down (we've never eaten at Jiko so I can't comment on that). Good luck.

For a little one my opinion is YC if you will be using the pool - it's fantastic for littles! If pool is not a concern, AK would be my choice.

I can't give you my opinion of the YC as we've never stayed there. However, we've stayed twice at the AKL and would have a hard time deciding somewhere else to stay. If your daughter loves animals as much as ours does, then that alone would make up my mind. It's quiet, and there are tons of activities for the kids to do. The zero entry pool and slide were so much fun. They even had smore making one night we were there and they were so yummy!
