We are DVC members and always get a 2 bedroom, usually at OKW. Most of the time there are only four of us. We just got back Feb. 1st from 12 nights at OKW and we are going for 10 nights in May to VB and then BWV. DH found out today that he needs to head to Orlando on business and he wants us to come (ds is 4, dd is 6). We will leave on 3/21 for 7 nights. We have used all of our points and we do not want to borrow. His company will only pay $140/150 per night for four nights accomadations. I don't mind spending $$ on vacation but I refuse to spend a lot this time since we just got back and are going again soon. The whole point is, where can a spoiled family stay? I have searched all night for nice condo's or houses. The houses are in the middle of nowhere and the condo's just aren't DVC. Can anyone relate?! I can't believe how spoiled we have become. So, to make a llllloooonnnngggg story short, if you are used to DVC but you can't stay there, where would you stay? Thanks!

We are spoiled too. The four of us usually stay in a 2-bedroom too. I don't know how close to WDW you need to be but a good off-site alternative is Vistana in Lake Buena Vista or Vistana Village on International Drive. We stayed at Vistana in LBV once and thought it was very nice. We are staying at Vistana Village this up coming trip over the weekend. It is Sheraton's brand new timeshare. We got a rate of $120 per night through Expedia for a 2-bedroom in May. They look very nice. The one thing about the one in LBV is that some of the units are older. If you decide to stay there be sure to ask for the Cascades. They are the newer units and we thought that they were lovely. Friends of our stayed in the older units and we didn't think that they were nearly as nice. The one problem you may have is the time of year you are going. Around Easter prices really go up in the Orlando area. You might try the Residence Inn in LBV. They have 2-bedrooms also. If you really want to stay in WDW you could see how much 2 connecting rooms at one of the AS resorts would be.

Once spoiled you have to pay the price. Dvc will has done it to many of us. How about buying more points. The latest incentive gives free nights in a Disney hotel. Then you will have some of the extra points your children will need when they grow up and spoil there children.

When I first bought into DVC I thought I would have plenty of points when my children were to grown up to go with me. I can see now that they are spoiled for life and will likely need to us my points occasionally. Guess I better buy more too.

I can relate. Once you're used to 2 bedrooms, it's very hard to go back to a conventional hotel room.

I wish I had some good advice, but you also are dealing with Easter break.

Good luck!

I'd say try to get a deal at a Deluxe....but as DVCReg points out, you are talking about the start of Easter/Passover break. I think the first priority right now is to find something and book it. Then you can play around with other options. One thought might be to see what is offered at the Celebration Hotel. If you need the space, I guess looking at offsite homes and condos is the way to go. But, for me, being at WDW would be the top priority.

Thanks for everyones opinions and ideas. I really liked the idea of adding on points but convincing my dh of that would be hard! LOL We have decided not to go. Dh is just going to head down there for the 3 days he needs to work and we will stay home:(

Most of the places are booked for at least part of the stay. The places that seem to have openings are your standard hotel rooms. Rental cars and air fare are more expensive this time of the year and I can't imagine what the crowds will be like. If we went, we would spend the exact same amount we will spend in May for VB/BWV. And, that is for 9 nights in a 2 bedroom versus 7 nights in a hotel room off property. Just doesn't seem worth it!

Only 68 days to go.......

Thanks again,
Lisa
