Is it at all possible that they really didn't hear or understand?

I would say no because they looked at me and then look away.... and for the understand part they might not have but when someone is looking at you, asking you something and looking like they are trying to get through wouldn't you get the hint.
I don't let things like this bother me when i'm at WDW thought... if there is anyway to go around them i do. Then only people that i have problem with strollers are the people that get you on the backs of your feet because they are plowing through the crowd. It's not everyone with a stroller, and most people are great with the strollers, its the selected few that ruin it for everyone.
I know that kids need the strollers. I;m not a mother, but i do work in childcare and i know that kids at that age could NEVER make it around disney world without a break. I have no problems with strollers, its when they hit the back of my legs is when i have a problem.

Sure the person in the back is the one who can avoid the collision, but it's rude to just stop and hold up traffic. If you're moving along with crowds of people in a walkway, you shouldn't just stop, anymore than you should just stop your car in the middle of the road for no reason. Pull over to the side to look at your map, etc.

Yet in the original complaint--the person that got smacked in the face with the backpack...the OP I imagine....blamed it on the person in front of them...who didn't look in front of them. :confused3

Sometimes you can't just go around--folks block the entire walkway--family on one side and the photo-taker on the other. I'll wait for a moment, but not forever.

Then Disney should remove those silly Kodak PIcture spot signs...often...the very blocking is occuring so that they can take the suggested picture on that sign.

It really is all Disney's fault.

#7) If you want a good view of the parade, please show up early and secure your spot. I don't care if your ADR ran late, if your children had a hissy fit, or anything else. Do not ask if you can stand in front my party and block OUR view cause your little Joe or Jane can't see. SHOW UP EARLY and get a decent spot. I'm happy to let Joe or Jane around me if you ask politely. I will not let your entire family of 12 stand in front of me.

Thank you in advance.

Please do not stop your enormous group or strollers in the middle of a walkway to discuss what you are doing next/fight/whatever. Pull over to the side of the walkway so others can get around you!

If you are in a line where everyone is told to "move forward and fill in all available space," please do not stop and prevent people from filling in the space in front of or around you. And if you do this and we get around you anyway, please do not start yelling obscenities.

Not proceeding all the way down your row when so asked is DISTINCTLY UNAMERICAN.

We were at Country Bear Jamboree and these people in our row would just NOT get a clue. Anarchy was about to take place. Eventually they got too mad to stick around and being stuck at the end of the row that they just left the auditorium. What's funny..every time they were asked to move down...they would shift over 2 seats. It's like dude--there are 20 people still standing...you gotta MOVE to the END!

Now...remember..if you want the MIDDLE seats..don't rush to be first in the theater. The LAST thing you will get is your perfect seat in the middle. And since it is rude to climb over you...I will just stand there and wait for you to move...ask a few times politely--then get all my friends to break out the "MOVE BUTT" and get you to move. ;)

Lots of wheelchairs that day--so CM's couldn't do it. We had to do it ourselves...repeatedly...everytime they moved just a seat or two.

I have several complaints about the crowds this trip. Some people just dont care who they are around, or infringing on other peoples space. Examples:

1. PLEASE DONT PUSH PEOPLE OUT OF THE WAY AT A SHOW-- just because you have a kid, doesnt mean you rule the world. And there is no need to push and shove another person out of the way just to get your kid up front. You should of waited before hand like the rest of us. :headache:

I had a mother send her kids to push in front of me at a show. Big kids, the older one was at least 14. I told him to quit pushing and Mom lit into me for being rude to a child.

If she'd taught him to say "Excuse me" when he shoved in front of people, maybe I'd have let him. Of course he was almost as tall as me.

That's one of my pet peeves as well. If your party doesn't include children, it seems like there are families out there who believe that you should not be there. I usually go with Mom and Dad who are older, my niece is who now 20 or friends my own age. I can't tell you how many times at shows and parades we've been asked to move by latecomers "well, our kids can't see and it's really for the kids you know".

I saw something sad in November. Dad and I were in line for Splash, our favorite mountain. There were two women in front of us with 2 little girls. One was absolutely terrified and cried the entire time we were in line. They kept dragging her along even though she was begging them to let her not ride. When we got to the logs, the CM could tell she was upset and offered to let her walk through the log and wait on the other side but the women wouldn't have any of it. I felt so badly for that child and for the other little girl who wanted to ride but you could tell she felt badly for the other child. I'm sure she didn't enjoy it as much as she could have either.

Having said all that, the last 3 trips we've met the best people and they far outnumbered the rude ones.

:rotfl: That's too funny!

We were at Body Wars in December, on a Monday morning, and there were very few people in the queue. Once we were allowed to board, there were only about two dozen people in total. But we all dutifully moved down our rows, sitting down on the far side of the ride vehicle, leaving 2/3 of every row empty.

I said aloud, "Wow, we're so good! We move all the way to the end of the row even when it's not necessary!" I got a few chuckles out of that from my fellow passengers. :)

The burden of avoiding getting smacked is on the person who is following and who followed too closely.

I couldn't disagree more, at least in our experience.

My daughter is in a wheel chair and as I push her through the parks, people literally will run or jump in front of her, leaving the burden of avoiding a crash to me (which at times in unavoidable).

Then there are those that walk aimlessly left and right, to and fro. If we're walking on the left and they veer into us as we come from behind, how is that our fault???

Consider it like a roadway, don't weave left and right, don't stop in the lane of traffic. If you do, remember, you're the at fault driver (or walker, as the case may be).

Unfortunately, so many think the world is revolving around them, and them alone....

That happened to me too! DS and I were waited over 45 minutes to see Flights of Wonder (I love birds!) and we were the only ones in line until shortly before it started. This older couple with their grandkids told them right in front of me to run in front of us so they could get the front seats. Well, they did, but that didn't stop me from taking the seats right next to them. They were kind of huffy about it, but what are you gonna do? :confused3

ETA: I wonder how many times I can use the word "front" in a sentence?

I'd like to add one....

If your child is visibly sick, LEAVE the PARK IMMEDIATELY.

I was in line for the POTC ride and there was a family ahead of us with a child that was saying he didnt feel well. THe mother felt his forhead and said to her husband, he has a fever. Dad said, ah it is probably a 24 hour thing. The kid says I think I have to throw up. And the dad said "Listen I am not LEAVING" We paid $5,000 for this trip and we are not going to miss a day cooped up in a hotel." They were put in the first row, we were two rows behind. We get on the ride and kid says again he has to throw up. Dad passes him a cup and he up chucks into it. For sure I thought they would leave right??? WRONG!!!! We see them again on line for Jungle Cruise!!!!

That would have been enough to make me sick!

Poor kid. We saw a kid at the Mickey Christmas parade that was sick too. Her father said, "just throw up here in the grass and then we'll go over and see the parade" Nice. I'm sure the kid really wanted to sit there for an hour in the cold after that.

I agree with you...maybe I am just having trouble with how it was stated. What I am picturing makes no sense...but what you state makes absolute sense.

I thought OP or whomever I qouted--was talking about you are already walking behind someone (who didn't cut you off)...or wheeling...or whatever. They stop and turn and you get smacked with a backpack in the face. I thought they said the turning person should look at what is in front of them before doing that. :confused3

In a roadway--if you slow to stop regardless of reason and someone hits you--the person who rear ended is the one at fault as they could have or should have been able to do something defensively. There could be something in the road...or they could be breaking down....who knows why they stop. But you still have to use caution to not hit them. So that analogy doesn't really work as the law is on the side of the person who got bumped.

But your analogy does translate well into the racing world where it is a constant battle for people who don't understand the rules of the road. I do my best to extend the courtesy I would there...in other areas that I go.

about a year ago I reached my boiling point with people in those electric scooters. I was in one of the shops in MGM looking for a particular size of a shirt when a woman pulled up next to me and yelled 'excuse me'. I told her to put it in reverse and back out of the aisle, I was here first.

I've seen some prety sick looking kids and can't imagine dragging them around. Our older DD got sick on our last trip, we hauled ourselves out of there after a stop at first aid, from the time she fell asleep on Splash to the time we were in our room at POR was about an hour and we had her in bed fast!
