Please Have Theme Park Manners!

Here's one.. How about remember that you are at Disney World!! You have looked forward to this vacation and so have everyone around you- please just have fun. If someone bumps into you don't let it ruin your vacation. I have been bumped, stepped on, Puked on, poked, rolled over ect... but I was at Disneyworld!! All those things could have happened at my local mall-

Ok, take the person in Amity's post out of a wheelchair for a moment. If I am standing in an aisle, and you need to go by me, please ask me nicely to move. Do not come around the corner and shout "Excuse me!" in a rude way. I would be a little miffed. Now why is that behavior acceptable because the person is in a wheelchair?:confused3 Sure I understand that wheelchairs/scooters are much harder to manuever, but that entitles the person in the chair to be rude? I don't think so.

I don't think so either. IMO it says a lot about the people jumping to say Amity was wrong when obviously the person was being rude to him.

Assuming the wheelchair user wasn't hard of hearing and didn't realize they were yelling, they were indeed rude. But if someone said that to me I probably wouldn't tell back at them insulting their disability, let alone tell them "I was here first."

I remember reading a story on the DIS about a scooter incident. People were leaving MK at closing and a scooter person kept honking at the guy in front of him. When that didn't work he started hitting him with the scooter. When the guys leg started bleeding he turned around and grabbed the key out of the scooter. He then looked at the guy and threw the key. Pretty rude....sure....but if someone kept hitting me till I bled I might be tempted to do the same thing.

My friend and I were in line for Dinosaur and the woman in front of us had a boy of about 5 or 6 with her. During the ENTIRE queue, he cried and pleaded to leave - "Please Mommy don't make me go on this....AGAIN!" They had already been on the ride! She just kept saying "It's too late to leave now" and my favorite "You didn't die last time on this ride, now did you?" The poor kid was not loud, just sobbing and pleading continuously. After 10 minutes of this, my friend and I let 6 or so people cut in front of us because it was breaking my heart and I just couldn't listen to it anymore. Is any ride REALLY worth that? :confused3 I saw their picture at the end and she did NOT look like she was having any fun, and he looked absolutely terrified.

Moron! Idiot! I hope karma kicks her in the butt and she gets the living crap scared out of her sometimes soon! Itchbay!!!

The only time I bruise someones ankles with our double stroller is when they stop suddenly in front of me or try to cut across in front of me. And I dont offer an apology in those cases. In fact I may even push the stroller a bit harder...

I know it's frustrating when people stop suddenly in front of you, but what if they're stopping because the people in front of them suddenly slammed on the brakes? Do you still push your stoller "a bit harder"?

No, it doesn't entitle them to be rude. Nothing ENTITLES people to be rude. However, Disney is a place where thousands of people from all walks of life are put together in a situation where it is often hot, humid, and crowded. We all need to cut each other a little slack, have more fun, and judge less.

And I think that the point, for a person in a wheelchair, is that you can't take them out for a moment.

My pet peeve

People who insist on talking all through the show/ride. Last year we had a German family in front of us on Backlot tour. They talked to each other the whole ride in German. Maybe they didn't understand English that well to understand the tour guide BUT you don't need to talk through the whole thing so no one else can hear.

We also had a family 2 years ago in Mickey's Philharmagic. This woman stopped in the middle of the row - even though she was repeatedly told by the cast members to move all the way down. She refused. Then she was telling her small child all through the movie to "put your glasses on, put your glasses on". Then when Flounder came on the screen she said real loud "Oh look - it's Nemo!":rotfl2:

I'm sorry...this story just cracked me up!! :lmao: :lmao: I have a warped sense of humor...:lmao: :lmao:

I have to say - I had this happen to me as we were leaving Fantasmic with the stupid beeping - it's like being stuck in a traffic jam on the Long Island Expressway and having some moron behind you beeping like you can really go any faster. I just turned around and very kindly said, "I'm really sorry, but there's no way I can go any faster, if you'd like to go ahead of us and see if you can move faster than us, please feel free," and I let her move on by. :hippie:

I think a lot of this bad behavior is just a reflection of the entitlement society (especially when it comes to parenting) we are now living in. People think they and their children are entitled to certain privileges  and nothing or nobody will get in their way. Sad, really.

We were walking in EPCOT a few years ago and had our kids in the double stroller. We were taking the pathway by the pavillion over a small waterway area to get to Test Track. It's that area that is a bridge with rails on the sides. We were about halfway through it when a group of 6 people were all walking side by side taking up the whole width of the sidewalk coming toward us. DH & I both got behind our stroller and tried to take up as small amount of space as possible.

The people kept coming at us-they wouldn't move over-no one would slide over to let us by. We had to stop walking or run into them. So we stopped and they still kept coming at us. We just stood there amazed and finally DH says, "What do they think we're going to do? We can't move!" Finally the one in front of us moved over, but it wasn't enough room that we could safely start walking again without running into the next person in their line up.

It was so bizarre. The group was giving us really dirty looks like we should've moved somewhere to let them all pass so they could continue walking side by side. The only thing we could've done was turn around and go backwards and we weren't going to do that! As they passed up, fuming, DH said, "We have no where to move to! It's not like we can magically squeeze our stroller down to nothing!" I couldn't believe how they just kept walking toward us-we clearly had no where to go-we couldn't go over to the side-there was no side!

AK's paths are pretty narrow-I see it a lot there, but most people move over if they are coming head on into a stroller. We will move out of the way if there's room, but in that instance we couldn't. Very strange....
