On annual passes..

My DH and I are considering upgrading to annual passes when we go in May. I already know that the cost would just be the difference between our tickets and the AP price.. but I have a few questions-

We currently have a package booked with Memory Maker - I know a version of that is included with APs, but does Disney credit the MM cost back to you, since it's already been paid for, and now you're getting a "free" version of it?

Do I run the chance of losing my discount? I booked with the Spring offer that is out, and don't really want to lose my room discount.. we upgraded to a deluxe because of this offer.

Is it better to just activate in the parks, instead of calling to upgrade now?

Do we have to do it on our first day in the parks, before we use our first park ticket, or can we do it a few days into our trip?

Our daughter will be 2 years old when we go, but if we decide to upgrade, she will be 3 in 2017.. is it just easier to buy her regular tickets? That would be our only option, right?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for all of the questions! :thanks:

Cannot change to an AP within a package. Upgrade when you are there, just make sure to use the tickets first at least once, know what the upgrade cost SHOULD be before you upgrade an AP so you know your ticket is properly "bridged" to the current gate price. You should only be paying the difference. Can do this up to your last day, but get it done earlier in your stay for any other AP benefits you might want to use, such as MM. Your AP start date will be the first day you used your ticket regardless.

I've heard they will credit the MM you purchased, but others here will know the procedure better than I do. You might be able to remove it now, might have to wait to convert to AP first and have it credited at that time.

You could buy an AP for a 3 year old, kinda pricey though, and her anniversary date will be different from yours. Figure how many trips during the year you might take on the adult APs, add up the cost of separate child's tickets for those trips to see if it makes financial sense.

If your tickets and Photopass are all correctly attached to your DME account, The new AP with MM will "unlock" all Photopass pictures in your DME account. (even if they were taken earlier in the week, before your AP activation date.)

Due to some shopping/dining discounts, it's nice to upgrade earlier. I usually upgrade to an AP in my 1st or 2nd afternoon as I'm heading back to the resort.

We just bought APs and the room discount we got was better than the current special offered in May. You may want to call and ask and see, the CM I talked to yesterday was very nice and checked the price difference for me before I committed to buying the AP.

Thanks everyone! We are still discussing and making sure it'll be worth it to us. :) But any and all information is greatly appreciated!
