Please give me some input on Coronado Springs!

It is very centrally located to all the parks, except DTD.

Thank you for mentioning this! We used to hear frequently how Coronado Springs is "so far out of the way", but compared to the other moderates, it's easily the most centrally located resort when you look at driving time. (We don't hear this as much any more - maybe the word got out.) Unless you plan to spend a lot of time at Downtown Disney (as you mentioned) or Typhoon Lagoon, it can't be beat.

And if you're a fan of Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, and Winter/Summerland, it's fantastic.

(Plus, it's an easy drive to Publix on I-Drive and 192 if you need to pick up supplies, or to Gaylord Palms if you feel like an off-property visit.)

Also, I'll second the thoughts of another poster - the lake ("Lago Dorado") is beautiful early in the morning, and in the evening. CSR is my favorite of the moderates.

DH and I rated it as far superior to the Polynesian (with exception being the location of course!).

We were in the Cabanas section, 9b. Perfect location, IMO! I never once heard our neighbors.

We had the same reaction - We stayed at CSR for 4 nights after having spent the previous 8 at Poly Concierge. While we enjoyed concierge & the monorail, we actually like CSR better than the Poly. We were also in Cabanas, which was very convienent for us on vacation, but if the casitas are closer to convention facilities, that would be the way to go. I really like the looks of the casitas section.
Your kids will love the pool - it's a blast. Also, there are 2 gamerooms for them to enjoy if you have resort time.
I found the buses to be very prompt, the CM's to be very friendly, helpful & they had pride in their resort. The room was great for us as 2, it would be adequate for 4 I think, esp. after cruise cabins.
We loved Pepper Market & my son has requested we return there for lunch this coming trip. Esp. fun is late night eating at PM listening to the kareoke from the bar that is nearby. DS & I laughed so hard at that!
Enjoy!

Thanks everyone for all your responses! I was getting worried after reading a couple negative reviews, but sounds like there are lots of positives out there! We can't wait! I think I'll try calling the number there about a week out and asking them the best way to handle requests (I'd at least like to request non-smoking and top floor), but I'll look at the map more carefully and see if I should request an area (from what I've read sounds like 8 or 9 areas seem to be the best?!) or see if our group is all together in one area. Thanks again!

We absolutely love CSR!! You will enjoy your stay here-beautiful grounds, great pool, wonderful theming! We loved our stay in the Casitas section!
Enjoy!

A friend of mine was there for his annual meeting, and his company had a block of rooms booked, so pretty much, all of his counterparts were either in the same building or across from each other...and it was quiet, no noise and good mousekeeping....and the food was great, so have fun and try not to get lost wandering around, I lost him for 1/2 hour trying to find the pool....

I'm curious about the answer to the second part of Marcie's original question:

What's the best way to make requests? Letter, fax, phone call, in person once you're there? I thought at DL we requested via fax about 5 days out, but I could be mistaken.

Any recommendations?
Thanks!

When I make my researvations I make my requests then a few days prior to the event I follow up with either a fax or phone call. Faxing I hear is better but last year we called and got every thing we requested. I think it has to do with when you come in and of course whats available. The earlier you check in, the better chance you'll have of getting everything you want. This is also why so many people stay a quick cheap overnight stay somewhere if they are coming in at a later time of the day - then they check in to Disney early in the morning!

Well you can add me to the CSR list. It is a favorite of mine. I must admit that it was noisy when we stayed but there was a lot going on around our area. We drove all night and checked in around 11 a.m. about a month ago. The CM checking us in was about to give me the card to call back when room was ready (I made ressie and requested ranchos section) but I politely inquired about any room available as we had been up all night driving. The great CM found a room just cleaned and assigned it to us and it was in the Ranchos section. When we arrived, the room was on the backside of Ranchose 6B looking at a woods view on the 1st floor. The maid was in the room directly next to ours and working her way down that row of rooms during the day. We did have a few families with young children who were running around (this was some of the noise). The maid was a little noisy cleaning the room next to us and then the grounds crew came over to our section and began cutting bushes and tree limbs, etc. It was quite noisy in this area from 11-noon but we were sooooo tired that we fell asleep through it and woke up around 3 p.m. and could still hear the grounds crew outside. A little after 4 p.m., maids and groundcrew all were headed back to end their day.

At night it was quiet even though there were people around. You could hear the kids excitment if they were close but that was short lived as they would pass quickly. I must admit we never heard our neighbors once they were in their rooms (except for flushing toilets but this noise has been in every hotel that I've stayed at on property). Additionally we had the elevators right across from us and never heard them either. We were really close to a quiet pool and maybe 300 feet from the mainpool area.

Now I know that people don't like CSR for several reasons. One of them is the layout of the resort as it is pretty big but it is a great walk and it didn't bother me even though I was tired. The other thing that a lot of people don't like is the food court setup because it is different. I purchased Q&C vouchers which worked out well when eating there. It is always best to do a little homework before leaving on vacation especially when dining at the Pepper Market.

I think you'll have a great stay there.

It's the only moderate we have tried and think it is terrific:earsboy:

We were there in August of 2003 and we just loved it. Keep in mind that the temple at the Dig Site has a really neat thing at 10am when they open where the lifeguards get all the kids on the steps and they chant "Wa-ter, wa-ter!"
No problems with noise or anything when we were there.

CSR is a great resort. Check out my CSR website for pics, links and info.

Buzzman - thanks for the site! I'd found it through another thread and printed several of the pictures for our kids' "countdown calendar" (we print out pictures, then cover them with post-it notes to peel off each day counting down to the trip).

Thanks everyone for your feedback - we're really looking forward to it now!

i was there in november of '03 in cabanas 8b. i really liked CS...i could tell there were conventioneers there (saw them at the pool, having drinks in their matching company polos) but noise was never a problem at all.

Hi there,

I have stayed at 10 WDW resorts and of all the moderate I would rate this one. We stayed at Cabanas 8b I think, the Pepper MARKET was great and the pool was a big plus. You will love it, I never heard my neighbours.

Have a great trip.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the CS. LOVED it and will never stay anywhere else! :)

We've never stayed at CS, but heard lots of good things. I hope it is nice as we're spending our anniversary trip there.
