We don't have a choice of hotels - DH is going on business and it's the only way it's happening. Weren't actually planning on going back to DW again, so it's a pleasant surprise. But I've read a couple reviews on this board about how bad this place is - in terms of space and noise. Did you really find it to be that bad?

We've stayed on site before only at All Star Sports and Dixie Landings and never had noise problems at either place. In fact were at AS twice during Pop Warner and was amazed that with my door closed I couldn't hear the approximately 1000 cheerleaders screeching out in the courtyard outside. I realize some of this is luck of the draw in who you have next to you or above you, but are the walls really that much thinner there?

Can you request a certain area if you're going with a group? It's not a huge convention, but about 100 rooms for DH's company. Will we all be together? Can we request non-smoking at least? Or will we be scattered throughout the resort? How many floors are there in this resort or does it vary by area? Which section would you request? I did read the Coronado Springs thread and all the info there and printed out the map. Just need some more input as far as noise.

What's the best way to make requests? Letter, fax, phone call, in person once you're there? I thought at DL we requested via fax about 5 days out, but I could be mistaken. Thanks for any help/recommendations!

i was there in november of '03 in cabanas 8b. i really liked CS...i could tell there were conventioneers there (saw them at the pool, having drinks in their matching company polos) but noise was never a problem at all.

This resort is huge and spreadout so you should not have any problems with noise. I really like this resort and the food court area is the best of the moderates IMHO.

I honestly can not see how anyone can rate CS low at all. I used to plan several conferences for my company. We went to CS twice. Just to give you some idea to compare we've stayed at Caesars in Vegas, The Breakers at Palm Beach, The Scottsdale Princess and Grand Floridian. CS had some of the best feedback from our attendees and staff. The atmosphere is so relaxed and happy. The CMs at Coronado have been very pleasant.

I love walking around the lake in the early morning or evening.

The place is just so magical for me. Plus they have some kick butt margarittas!

Chances are you'll be close to the convention center. In all my stays that is where I was without any request. The rooms are average but the grounds more than make up for that part. I have never had a problem with noise.

Have fun and enjoy!

Thanks for the replies - my first thought when we heard about it was that there would be fewer kids since it was mostly conventions. I know when we went to Milwaukee with my husband for a week for business and stayed at a primarily convention hotel, it seemed like my kids were the ONLY ones there. Never anyone else at the pool or in the hallways or anywhere because they were all in meetings all day. We plan to spend very little time in our room - honestly probably from about 10pm until 7am daily. Glad to hear not everyone had a bad experience!

I haven't stayed there but I did just return from a trip to Pop Century. I was nervous because I'd also seen lots of complaints of space and noise.

We were just two adults traveling and found that Pop had more than enough room for us. We also did not hear any noise, except for the occasional water (ie. toilet, shower) and that is what happens when you have multiple units hooked up to the same pipe system. I've heard water everywhere from the best 5 star resort to the cheapest Motel 6.

I think you can have a bad experience anywhere. I found Poly to be more noisy than any of the moderates or Pop Century.

We spent a delightful week at CSR over Thanksgiving -- our first stay in a moderate -- and were pleasantly surprised!

The resort is beautiful and spacious, with lots to do -- besides the Dig Site pool, there are quiet pools scattered around, and you can rent bicycles and boats, and even go fishing. We stayed in Cabanas, 8b, and it was wonderful: it was just a pleasant five minute walk to the main buildings, and close to the pools and laundry facilities. Plus, the bus stop was right outside our door!

The food court, as others have noted, is exceptional -- but, I think, a bit pricey. For what you spend on a meal there -- easily, $10-15 or more -- you might as well eat at the Maya Grill or another sitdown restaurant.

But we enjoyed our stay immensely, and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again :cool1: !

You are going to be extremely pleasantly surprised! CSR doesn't feel like a convention hotel at all. We never experienced any noise issues at all!! What kind of space issues were you referring to? Size of room?? It's FINE! Size of resort? Spacious but not overwhelmingly so. We stayed in Casitas, which is the closest to the COnvention Center. I would request Casitas 4 if I were you. THat will put you right by the lovely quiet pool, pretty close to the main building, and right by the bus stop that is picked up first (but called Bus Stop #2)---you'll always start with an empty bus.

Post your reflections when you get back. I'm sure they will be positive!

Thanks everyone for all the input. By space, I meant the walking and distance, not room size (I've been on 3 cruises in the last year instead of Disney vacations and will probably think the rooms are enormous compared to any of the tiny cabins we've had!) Are kids allowed at the quiet pools? I'll just have one with me (instead of my normal 3 hyper boys) so doubt that he'd be yelling or splashing but would be swimming around. Thanks!

My sister and I stayed at CS a few years ago. And the thing that always pop up in my mind is all the men in spedos! :earseek:

I'm curious about the answer to the second part of Marcie's original question:

What's the best way to make requests? Letter, fax, phone call, in person once you're there? I thought at DL we requested via fax about 5 days out, but I could be mistaken.

Any recommendations?
Thanks!

I loved the resort when I was there in November. One thing that I noticed, but didn't take advantage of, there are always golf carts going to and from El Centro that will stop to pick you up if you want. I never thought the walk was bad (I was in Ranchero 7B) so I didn't take advantage of the rides.

The only time I noticed the conventioneers, was in the Pepper Market. I thought many of them acted very crabby, not Disney-like at all. Probably becauses there were at WDW and were WORKING!!!

Have a great trip.

We stayed at CSR during the FWF in November. We enjoyed everything about. Nice rooms, beautiful resort, loved the Dig Site, Bus Transportation and El Centro.

It is very centrally located to all the parks, except DTD.

LOVE :cloud9: Coronado!! It is my favorite of the moderates that I have been to so far. The theming is cool, the pool is cool, love the food court. Its just great!

In response to the question about requesting certain room locations:

I don't know officially how you are supposed to do it. When we were there, we just requested in person as we were checking in. We got lucky and got what we wanted, but I guess that wouldn't always be the case. I'd probably call and ask for the request to be noted on the reservation.

We stayed there for the 1st time this past May. We were in Cabana 9b. The only reason I knew there was a convention going on at the time was because I saw a "Welcome so and so corporation" on a sign in the lobby area. We honestly didnt hear or see anything to do with it. Needless to say, we loved this resort and its our 1st choice to stay at in the future. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised! Have a great trip!

this is a great resort!! you will be thrilled!! i love it. no noise, very disney.. fax them. get # from allearsnet.com. I am real picky too!! i love cabanas 8a or 8b myself!! wish i was going!!!!!!! just back from 3rd trip this year and ready to return!

We were just there last weekend. It is a fantastic resort. Very beautiful!

DH and I rated it as far superior to the Polynesian (with exception being the location of course!).

We were in the Cabanas section, 9b. Perfect location, IMO! I never once heard our neighbors. The rooms were spacious enough for our family of 4.

The pool (we didn't use as it was too cold) looked incredible. Both of our girls loved the game rooms. Pepper Market was great! I have nothing negative to say about this resort!

Enjoy your trip!

Teresa
