Please give me ideas on what to do

the wife and I will be there in March of 07 for about a week. I am going to a seminar so I will be busy during the day, but evenings are wide open. What is there to do in the evening that is really worth it to get a good Disney experience?

I was thinking:
Cirque du Soleil
Pleasure Island
Illuminations cruises at Epcot

I also wanted to surprise my wife with a couple hours at a spa. Which spas are really nice?

We are staying at the Hilton next to Pleasure Island. I do not really want to pay for park tickets to get in just for a few hours, so what else is there to do to keep busy at night time?

Also if you just happen to already have a boat reserved for the last week of March and need a couple extras we can chip in on the cost. Thanks all.

definitely do wishes - if you are lucky you can see it from the Polyn beach. (sometime the security guard check ID and you will be asked to leave without a Polyn ID) - only send them do it once on July 4.

first of all in March is spring break - and MK is open LATE most nights - so it would probably be more than a few hours.

secondly, Hilton is the only Downtown hotels with EMH. So again more time in the parks.

I would really consider getting park passes.

for the Spa - SSR get high marks - it is walking distance from Hilton.

Thank you for the quick reply. What is "Polyn beach" and how can I get there? How do you get security badges? Do I have access to it since I am staying at the hilton?

you can get to it by driving to the Polyn - or take the resort bus to the MK then getting on the resort monrail.

Other personal favorite evening things that don't require park admission:

1. Mini golf at Fantasia Gardens, followed by dinner at Todd English's bluezoo restaurant (which is located in the WDW Dolphin Hotel, across the street from Fantasia Gardens) - check it out at swandolphin.com/bluezoo

2. Pioneer Hall Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds

3. Spirit of Aloha dinner show at Disney's Polynesian Resort

4. Late dinner at Narcoossee's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa...if you are there when Magic Kingdom has their fireworks, you can see the fireworks from the restaurant AND they pipe the music into the restaurant to go along with the fireworks


As for the spa treatments for your wife, you can't go wrong with the spa at the Grand Floridian. I personally experienced the spa at what used to be the Disney Institute...if it is the same or better now that the resort is Saratoga Springs, then it's really really good.

The Boardwalk is a great place to spend a few hours. In addition to the two places listed above, there is outdoor seating at the Big River at the Boardwalk. You can sit there for an outdoor dinner, or just to grab a drink. If you are there when the Illuminations show goes off at Epcot, you can see some of the fireworks from that vantage point. I have done that many times including last week when I was at WDW.

Do you and your wife enjoy college basketball. If you do, you could go to the ESPN club at the Boardwalk to catch some of the coverage.

Getting to the Boardwalk is easy. From your hotel, go to Downtown Disney and take the Boardwalk bus over to the resort.

If you go over to Pleasure Island, I would definitely take in the show at the Adventurer's Club.

Most of all, enjoy your time at WDW.

Agreed completely. The Adenturers' Club is awesome. They have different shows at different times...the midnight variety show is my personal favorite.

ps. The college basketball is a GREAT idea. I forgot the tourney will be on during that time. Good heads up there.

I was just going to make that point. I'm attending a Higher Education User Group meeting at Disney from the 10th to the 14th of March and the after 4 p.m. tickets were really reasonable. Dont need them since I have a FL resident seasonal pass.

Not sure if you can call. Maybe contact the seminar people and see if they offer anything. You could try calling Disney but since you're not at a Disney hotel I don't know if that would work. You might also try your hotel to see if they offer anything.
You might also try allearsnet.com to see the various tickets Disney offers. There are a lot more options than I thought.

I attended a conference in December and the conference website had a link to Disney tickets. This had the code for the conference so they knew we qualified for the convention tickets. You can try calling and see if they have your seminar listed for the discounted tickets.

Jelly Rolls, Jelly Rolls, Jelly Rolls!!! Don't miss it. I love it. It is dueling piano players and a great time. and absolutely no children. We love Boardwalk. You could down there, get a bite to eat at one of the great restaurants there, then plan to be at Jelly Rolls when it opens (9pm? someone correct me if I'm wrong). and get a good table. Also, bring some cash and a pen so you can make requests and a nice tip helps...

Also love Cirque. Make your reservations early. You won't regret it.

It is Disney's Polynesian Resort, located on the resort monorail line, near the Magic Kingdom.

Guests staying at a particular resort receive a resort ID card/room key for that resort.

Your Hilton room key wouldn't apply to the Polynesian, but I don't know if you have to show an ID to spend a few minutes on the beach at the Polynesian. I never saw them ask for ID's there.

Jellyrolls was already open at 8:00 PM on my recent visit, and I don't know if they had been open a while before that.

My opinion of Jellyrolls is that the music is wonderful; the cigarette smoke is not. Also the music is a bit loud, so you may want to bring earplugs if you're sensitive to that. On balance, I really like Jellyrolls, in spite of the drawbacks.
