Where does the monorail stop at DL? Doe it stop at the entrance, all the hotel, or what? We're trying to decide between DL Hotel and Grand Cal. hotel. Does the monorail stop at the Grand? Is it worth the walk to the monorail from the DL hotel? TIA

The monorail only has two stops: inside Disneyland in Tomorrowland, and at Downtown Disney near Rainforest Cafe. The closest Disney hotel is the Disneyland Hotel, but it's a several minute walk (and longer than that, if you're in the Wonder/Bonita tower) to the monorail station. I wouldn't choose a hotel based on its proximity to the monorail. With as long as it takes to go through security at the monorail station, then wait for and board the monorail, you can walk to Disneyland faster than the monorail will get you there.

There are two stops on the Monorail. Inside of the DL park - in Tomorrowland near the Submarines. And then in Downtown Disney. The Downtown Disney stop is near the Rainforest Cafe - it's still a walk to the Disneyland hotel (though not as much of a walk as from Disneyland Park itself). While the Monorail goes through parts of DCA, it doesn't stop there nor at the Grand Californian.

For us, the Monorail is more of a ride, than a mode of transportation. We have to ride it a couple of times around for the boys (and we enjoy it too). Only occasionally do we use it to get over to DTD.

At the monorail is transportation. DL has the original monorail and it is more of a ride than it is transportation. As Scooter said, it actually picks up and drops inside DL in Tomorrowland as opposed to outside the park at the gate. It is like the DLRR which is sort of transportation but more of a ride.

Yeah the fine people at disney refer to it as an Attraction not a mode of transportation

Thanks for explaining it to me. We'll defineately ride it but I won't rely on it as a mode of transportation. Thanks guys! :)

If you are staying at the DLH, the Monorail is a very nice mode of transportation at the end of the night when your 5 year old is whining that his feet hurt...

On the Monorail, a special treat is to ride in the front car with the driver. Anybody can do this, but no more than 5 passengers (includes babies and lap children -- they count each individual). Just wait by the first gate, and when it opens, go stand by the front car. The door will be closed, but the driver will come and open it. It's a different perspective and the ride seems so much faster! Your best bet is to get on at Tomorrowland, as there will probably already be passengers in there if you're trying to board at DTD.

I love using the monorail as a mode of transportation.

We're not always in a rush to get places while at DL. Sometimes it's nice to just sit down and enjoy the ride while saving our feet & legs for long days at the parks. It gives you a great birds eye view of the parks and DTD that never gets boring.

Are the new/refurbed monorails running yet? I remember hearing that there were problems when they were delivered and was wondering if the issues had been resolved.
