hi all,

have been to wdw & making our first trip to DL. we are familiar w/fp but have been confused by some of the posts.

1. when someone writes they have "collected" fps for the day....how is that possible? i thought every person in your party needs their tickets scanned for fp if they want to ride and then you can get another fp after that time has expired??? please clarify.

2. i've read some posts that you can go on a ride AFTER the time indicated....is that true? i thought if you don't go during that period, you lose your spot?

i read some of hyrdoguys info on fp which was very helpful especially the part about one person going to get a fp while the "group" waits in line.

thanks for your help. we are so excited to visit DL!

You are right each person must be scanned. The collecting happens once every one is in the parks.

You are off on your thinking about when you can get your next FP. It may or may not be related to the most recent FP window. Once you get a FP you can get another any where from 40 minutes to a maximum of 2 hours from your most recent FP pickup time.

See this thread for more complete ino:

Yes it is true. The trick to making good use of FPs is to use them after their windows. Collect them in the morning and use them in the afternoon and evening when lines are longest.

thanks hydroguy! your feedback has been most helpful.

as for using the fp after the time indicated, won't the CMs notice & say something especially if your fp time is from 11-12pm and you show up at 4pm??!! i don't want to tick off any of the cms!:-) i remember they were pretty strict about this in wdw...

It is Disney policy at both DLR and WDW to take FPs after the window. I personally have done it at least 100 times without a comment about being late.

The only CM comment I ever had was at Indiana Jones. I had gotten a FP in the morning that had a 9AM-10AM window. I went to use it at 8:30PM at night. The CM looked and said I had to "wait until 9" to use it - because they are strict about not allowing FPs before their window. When I pointed out to the CM that the FP was for 9-10AM and not 9-10PM she said "ooops, sorry, go ahead" and let us ride.

In 2005 I got a Space Mtn FP picked up at 8AM and with a 8:45-9:45AM window and used it at 11:55PM (about 14 hours after the window).

wow, thanks for the tidbit and info. we didn't know that! we found fastpass to be cumbersome at wdw b/c we thought we HAD to use it before the fp window expired. there were a couple of times we "missed" the fp window and thought we couldn't use it so didn't!:-) glad to know we were wrong.

thanks again!

sorry...one more thing...i read from the link you posted that we can get a fp at dca & a separate fp at dl around the same time since they are two separate networks...that is pretty cool! thanks again.

MaryM,

You have discovered one of the most liberating, plan changing bits of advice on these boards.

I too can attest to using fast passes hours and hours past the "deadline" hundreds of times. The trick is to gather as many fast passes early in the day for all your favorite rides. You can ride most rides easily during the early hours without a long wait. Save your fastpasses for the evening hours when the parks are busy and have long wait times.

There are a lot of guests that have no clue that you can "save" a fastpass for later.

It will change how your tour the parks. And it will enable you to ride many more rides without standing in line for long amounts of time.

Have a blast!

thanks seatletink...i couldn't agree more....am i correct to believe that I can get a fp in dca & dl at the same time?!

Yes, the FastPass networks for both parks are separate. In addition, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin is disconnected from the Disneyland system, so you could get a FP for a ride in DL and then right away get a FP for Roger Rabbit, which is also in DL.

I think it's still like that, it was last time I was there. :)

Yes and your whole party doesn't have to enter both parks just one. After entering Disneyland in the morning, one person can take all tickets and head over to DCA and grab FPs for the entire group.

We did this at WDW in January. We missed our time at Soar'in and thougth we would give it a shot. No problem using them several hours later.
