I received the video and it helped very little to understand the value and gow it works. I know nothing about timeshares and have never even thought about it before. Me and wife, as well as my brothers family and my parents, go to WDW about once a year. We would like to go more. We went on the Cruise and loved it. Is the DVC for us? What does it cost? How do you save money? Any information from real people about this would be very appreciated.

Yes, you save money--but you take more trips, so some of us would say that you spend more ;) Basically, you buy at least 150 pts, which costs about $12,000. Every year you will automatically get another 150 pts to use, and the only other money you pay will be your yearly maintenance fees of about $4 per point. I bought in 97, and a studio will cost me about $65 per night, all costs included. It's actually alot less, because if you sell your points you will get your original investment back, at least you will if the market continues to hold up. I bought at $54 and now they are selling for at least $80, so my investment is safe for now. Since a studio is about 14 pts per night, you can get 2 or 3 short trips in per year. :goodvibes

Depending on how you travel, you may not save money. If you visit at least every two years at a deluxe resort, you can definitely taylor a point total that will save you money. However, there are off-site locations within a few miles that cost less than the annual dues alone for DVC. We also spend more money because we visit more often. That aside, it was one of the wisest decisions we've ever made! For us, the quality of the vacation that has really improved since we became members. All the DVC resorts are first class and you receive all the benefits of staying on site.

If you are thinking about DVC to save money, it really doesn't look like you would based on your list of past trips. It seems you are going every couple of years and staying at one of the moderate resorts. If you are happy with continuing that, you won't save any $. Saving may also depend on when oyu go. Do you only go during school vacation times or are you more flexible?

DVC is not as much about saving money as it is a "lifestyle". Always staying at a deluxe resort, not having to worry about codes, planning ahead.

It saved my family money because we are a group of 6 who had to always get two connecting rooms during school vacation periods and we have always gone at least once per year.

Good luck.
