I agree with Planogirl. I don't think VH is a troll. He's very opinionated, agreed but he was that way on the DB.

Now there's another poster who I would definitely categorize a troll.

You know those threads are like a train wreck or car accident. You know you shouldn't slow down to look at it, but you just can't help yourself. I just get annoyed by threads that start out one way and then turn into a totally different topic that gets nasty, but I still keep reading them...I can't help myself!

I don't think Van Helsing is a "troll" either. I think he/she has
offended some of your sensibilities and/or has ideas and beliefs
you don't think are correct. That doesn't make VH a troll.
I'm not a troll and I agree with VH on most things. I also post
elsewhere about other things which is maybe the difference. I'm
also a VERY PROUD American and insist that I be allowed to
have my own opinion and express it per the constitution. k?
I also think it is perfectly fine for folks from other countries to
express their political feelings and beliefs about our country
as we can express ours. Name calling isn't really part of any of this. It seems to be the last resort some of you have to contradict or combat folks not sharing your beliefs.

and "sucks" and some others I won't take the time to mention
here. You have the ability to ignore on this board/don't play with
him if he doesn't treat you nice. You are lucky, you can pick your
friends and ignore politely those you choose not to play with.

I do agree with shortbun, I don't think that Van Helsing is a troll either. I think the views of Van Helsing often contradict with "popular" opinion but that does not mean he/she is a troll, just that his/her opinion is different from the norm of most people posting on these threads.

I have seen Van Helsing make posts to other types of threads, not just controversial comments.

Just something I have been wondering about..........how come the moderators will allow "personal" attacks against some posters to go on for long periods of time when I have seen threads closed very quickly for very minor comments that were made?

Thanks shortbun - i have posted about other things and have tried to help other Dis'ers. But i guess that just doesn't count when your views aren't the same as some others


All these posts about Trolls - some could say they're being posted to stir up trouble ( now would that come under trolls ?? )


As i've said if you don't agree with my posts for what ever reason feel free to ignore them. Just like i ignore posts

If you believe a post is a "personal" attack against someone, use the "Report this post to a moderator" feature and make a report. It's more effective than wondering out loud about something.

I was just curious is all. Is there a set of guide lines somewhere that are posted so that people can find out answers to questions like this?.

I was speaking only in general terms of personal attacks not specifically against any one poster.

That is what I meant when I said I was reluctant to post. I had been just reading the threads for a week or so and I had noticed that there seems to be a so called "cliche" here and if anyone dares to say anything to offend them they all gang up on one person. I think that is immature and very bias. If the person is not outright cursing or calling you names then how can they be a troll? I will agree that there are many people that annoy others more than most but I still think everyone has the right to an opinion even if it differs with the gang on the board.

I almost never agree with Shortbun...but today I do...your last few lines cracked me up!

Look at post counts.....real trolls will have a very low number here, they only come on to make trouble. VH has a pretty high post count, so has obviously been around for a bit.

"Looks" can be deceiving. Not all trolls have a very low post count. Consider yours truly, for example.
