Please don't flame me......

DUMBO71 Tsk - tsk -tsk!

How dare you twist what our beloved Crisi said, into your hatred filled rant against the DVC!! :sad2:

:crazy2: You should sell your points immediately.:hourglass

You and your kind are not welcome here! :snooty:

:grouphug: to Crisi for having to deal with Dumbo's abuses!

I'm gonna report this thread to a Moderator!:laundy:

"CHUCK!" "Yo Chuck" (Grumbling to himself....You can never find a Moderator when you need one!)

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :thumbsup2

Ahhhhh, the power of being a respected poster and contributor on these boards.
.....
Hey Crisi, got any lessons for sale on how to post without being flamed?

Aparently, being respected and beloved helps. :rotfl2:

(Beloved?)

Why is the cost to "rent" points so low?
You have two options:

1) DVC owners are morons

2) DVC owners are changing what they market will bear.

I'm leaning towards (2) - sounds like you are leaning towards (1).

Well -- there's another 60 - 80 points !!
:teeth: :p
He's just lucky he didn't call for one of the "Assorted Carols" - that would be about 1,000,000 bazillion points and the mods are not even allowed to post what happens when you get that many!!! ::cop: :p ;) ;)

I can only imagine!!:scared1:

-- would that penalty involve the forced feeding of *shudder* Frogs Legs at Chef's de France every night for a week???? :faint:

;) :p :rotfl:

I completely agree but when I said something similiar a certain Webmaster laid into me about it.

By not making comments like these, hey you asked for it. :rotfl2:

Besides I would agree that DVC is not deluxe in the true sense of what deluxe resorts offer so what Crisi said I can partly agree with.

Many times it's not what is said but how it is said, or here how it is written. You are doing better though. Just keep saying, state it as opinion, not fact. :thumbsup2

Plus having thousands of posts don't hurt.

Why is the cost to "rent" points so low?

I took a quick peek at the rent/trade board and I was a little dissappointed to see how low the cost to rent points was.

DVC are delux resort and by renting them at only $11 pp, it is cheaper than a value resort!!!!!

Just wondering why so low????

**proud DVD owner*** ( with never enoguh points to spare);) :sad2:

Because, plain and simple, renting from a DVC owner just doesn't give you the perks and security that renting through CRO does.

THAT'S what slashes the price. I'm not sure why people don't get it.

The points are not worth more, because renters view them as a GAMBLE! They need to feel like they are getting a deal in order to take the risk.

Seems simple to me.

Are you saying that Dumbo71 is his real name?

:rotfl2: Thanks for the spit-take. Now I have images of the infamous dumbo flapping his ears as he sits at his computer desk. It's a wonder he doesn't spill his coffee more often.

As to the whole cheap point rental thing... I figured my points are worth about $10 each. I'm not a renter but use that as an easy equation when I'm calculating which is the better deal: use my points for weekends or get a member cash discount. Even with rental points at a seemingly low $10, it's still less expensive to pay the CRO ressie.

I do not view the DVC resorts as anything but super deluxe. Daily maid service is available to me, for an added cost. I get my own laundry and kitchen, plus a separate living/tv room. And if I chose to use half the points on a studio, I'm paying half the cost of a deluxe ressie, get a kitchenette, and with the leftover cash can get maid service. The DDP holds no interest to me as I go the AP and DDE route.

Funny thing is since I've been a vacation club owner (and that includes my previous 5 years experience as a Marriott owner), I found I'd rather be boiled in oil than spend hard cash on so-called deluxe hotel stays. I just can't see the point of giving out hundreds of dollars for a tiny bed & bath and counting myself lucky if I get a coffeemaker in the room. In fact, for an upcoming meeting in Orlando, we opted to stay at Saratoga rather than the comp'ed 5 star hotel on I-Drive.

Or to put simply: vacation clubs YEAH! deluxe hotels ICKY-ICKY-POO-POO.

I also agree with CRISI. I love my DVC but there are certain differences between the Deluxe Rooms and DVC even the Grand Villa's at the BW though very nice and have great views, are not as well decorated( the exception being SSR) or as well maintained as the same size suites at the the other deluxe resorts and don't come with maid service and concierge privileges that would accompany that level of room. What you get is a great location and a large living space. I would never pay rack rate for one. You also have less recourse if something goes wrong with the room during your stay. As a resort guest, you move out and get your money back. We are stuck with a bad stay and hope that next time will be better and it usually is. Joan

I found it interesting that you listed location as an advantage - I was thinking just the opposite. From a non-owner's viewpoint, I would think location is better with most deluxe resorts than the dvcs (except maybe BW & BC). I think the avg DVC owner's perspective might be different as the style of use when at WDW is different (less emphasis on park visits).

The whole "DVCers don't commando" meme is pretty well established here - and I wonder how true it is outside of DIS DVCers (who tend to, I'd guess, own a lot more points than average and go more often). We still get to the parks at opening, swim in the afternoon, go back to the parks for evening, and fall into bed exhausted - and the halls each morning and evening at BWV are filled with other families doing the same. I think if you hang at the resort, you notice a lot of people hanging - and if you are in the hall walking to the bus stop at 7am, you notice a lot of people doing the same. But I've had the pleasure of hanging at some of the non-DVC resorts - and people hang there, too.

I think it depends more on the amount of visits guests are making or have made to Disney. I know the first 3-4 trips I was doing everything commando style. And that was even after I had a timeshare ownership, better accommodations and could just hang for a while. But after that 4th trip, I just stayed a few extra days and built in down days. When I got to a 14 day stint and AP, I was doing half days at the parks. My reasoning was I had already seen the majority of what I wanted to at the parks and knew I'd be back again.

Only this past December when I took a friend who had never been before was I back to commando style. I was kinda glad to see him leave at the end of our first week. Then I could sit back and enjoy my vacation easier.

Well...... I just did spill my coffee.... well make that spit it out. Best part was my son is standing here wondering what is going on.:lmao: He asked if I was OK.:rotfl2:

By the way when did I earn infamous status here on the Dis? That is quite an honor, thank you very much for that.

I'll be waiting for my golden Dis board Staue to arrive any day now.:thumbsup2

I'm sure shortly after it arrives it will be followed by another point violation and a complete banning from these boards. Oh well, it has been a fun ride!
