What exactly is the Virtual Magic Kingdom?

Is it kind of like the SIMS?

I visited the website but I cannot get in at this time to check it out. I noticed that it said it was directed towards 8-14 year olds. Do adults play as well?

I'm 30 and a couple of years ago I finally had to quit SIMS cold turkey because I was up until the wee hours of the morning and didn't want to get up for work! By the looks of this board, I'm guessing that this is just as addictive.

I just discover the DIS boards a few months ago because we are going on a Disney Cruise, and I've noticed these VMK posts from time to time and I thought I would stop in and see if you folks would be kind enough to explain it to me.

Yes it is an on line game ! There are quite a few adults that play !

Are we not all kids at heart when it comes to Disney ?

You said that you had become addicted to SIMS.....well this too is addictive...but with on major difference ! !

The hours you can play are 10 AM to 1 AM EST ! ! ! ! So you would be limited to the time you can play !

Indeed, Vmk is a free online game where you create a character and roam around a virtual disney park. You can collect pins, play games, earn credits to buy stuff, make your own personalized room, make friends(dis ones are especially fun!) and hang out. It is highly addictive and while it's geared towards kids, LOTS of adults play it. I am not an adult but and teenager and love this better then SIMS 2!!!

Also keep in mind that VMK was made to get more people to the actual Theme Parks (Disneyland or WDW). At the theme parks you can earn EXCLUSIVE virtual things that will make you more addictive to this game! I hope you join soon and welcome!

Yes, vmk is a mmpolrpg somewhat likd Sims. But there are many real differences. It is Disney and involves playing in a "real" Disney park. It is geared to the 8 to 14 yr olds; but many many of us are adults. A lot of us have been here since the "beta testing" days.

The "dictionary" of words you can use to communicate is limited; but there are ways around it (muahaha) You must be very careful to only use language safe for children. No personal information like age or where you live.

And, like someone else mentioned, it is only open for limited hours. That does not lessen the addiction factor, however.

Welcome. Just as the real Disney parks are designed for "kids from 2 to 100", VMK is a delightful game that all Disneyphiles can enjoy. If you love going to the parks and enjoy Disney art work, the game should appeal to you. The graphics are exquisite and the games within the game are a lot of fun. The game does manage to capture a lot of the magic you find at the real parks so, for those of us unable to go to the parks very often, it can serve as a nice "between visits" break. Look forward to seeing you in the kingdom.

Why play VMK?
It's a great online game based for all disney lovers.It's based for 8-14 year olds but it's for all disney lovers..There are some web sites(like dis,VMK fan site,WDW magic)that other players give away their ideas and tips.(Yes, I wrote this before so, I'm going by my memory...well, it was more of a speech.)You can play games to earn credits and then build your own room(which cost credits by the way).
What is VMK for?
It's really just a game disney made to get more people to come to the parks.But even VMK staff admit..they love VMK and are proud to work at it.There are quests you do at the WDW and DLR resorts. These quests are made for getting prizes that you cannot buy at the stores in VMK.
Is there anything bad about VMK?
Yes.There are some issues kids have made in there.From armys to the word 'taken' to..wars to..vampires.Sometimes VMK can be annoying when kids are playing it.But around 11:00..it's mostly adults. Also, on weekdays at opening it's mostly adults.Other then kids who are home sick and other timezones.
What's so different about VMK?
There are many ways VMK is different from other games.It is free talking but, there are limited words. So that it's 'safe'.. .Sit and learn.There's so much more about VMK. Your just have to log in and discover the magic yourself.but, I am always open to pms about VMK if you need to know anything about it.
