Please dont allow your young children to push the disney strollers, especially the double strollers. I was leaving the MK tonight, on crowded main St. and was hit in the ankle by a stroller..It hurts!!! I looked behind me and it was a dsiney double stroller being pushed by a young girl of about 7 yrs of age. Young kids arent going to pay much attention to what or whom is ahead of them and will easily ram into someting, like my ankle. She nor her mother bothered to apologize, either,,When she hit me , I almost shouted an obscenity(reactionary) ..those hard plastic strollers hurt when they scrape against your ankle.

I agree, especially in crowds. I'm sorry that you were hurt.

Not as huge a deal as the amount of wheelchairs in the parks these days. I've come much closer to losing an ankle because of a wheelchair than a stroller.

I agree. But then again, most adults don't pay attention to where they're going and hit people.

I'm sorry you were hurt.

If this were facebook, I'd like this. On that note, can we have people stop letting their kids push large shopping carts?

Same thing happened to me on my 06 and 08 trip to disney! Little kid slamming me with the stroller. SAME KID TOO lol jk about the same kid part.

I have to agree. Younger children don't have the skills yet to control heavy vehicles like strollers and wheelchairs. Disney is not a place for them to learn. Not only can you damage people but you can also damage property.

Yea, I love the kids, that can't even see where they are steering it too. I mean some kids pushing them are tiny. I guess parents give in to their children after they ask to push to stroller 152 times?

Sorry you were hurt. Nothing worse then the ankle slam by a stroller or shopping cart. Most the time don't even get an apology by the person who did it.

I swear though someday someone is going to be seriously injured by one of those ECV's. Not complaing that people us them just think they should practice at home before going to a busy park. My 3 year old granddaughter got her foot ran over by one last year and then wanted to be held everytime she saw one after that, which was alot.

I agree....little kids (and I have them) don't have the strength nor the height to be able to control a stroller and see where they're going. This is why I hardly let my 10 year old push my toddler. This was especially difficult as I just had hand surgery and am unable to push it myself.

Now, on our last trip we went with my MIL and she was in a wheelchair. DS (who was 8 at the time) wanted to push her and so did DD (who was 9)....we only let them push her in sections of EPCOT that were not too busy, like the walkway between The Land pavillion and the Imagination pavillion. Didn't want anyone to loose a foot! lol

My mother will be renting an ECV when we go in October, and shes at the food store practicing with one now.
So the people at Disney will be safe, but the shoppers of Wegmans.... Better watch out!!!

Clarification: I was responding to the child getting her foot run over.
Some people really should practice more before going out.
BUT, people need to realize there are no brakes to slam on with an ECV. If someone gets too close,
The driver may not be able to stop in time, even if they are expert.
Even worse, there are people who allow their child or grandchild to DRIVE the ECV.
I have behind scooters that were kind of weaving all over and thought the person really needed to watch where they were going - especially when I saw the person pointing out things to both sides. As I got closer, the adult sitting on the ECV was not the one driving it:scared1:
The driver was a young child sitting on the adult's lap.:confused3:scared1:

I have also seen ECVs being driven by a child standing up between the adult's legs. The children are often barely big enough to see over the steering yoke.:scared1:

Where are these people's brains?

I have seen them stopped by CMs, but as soon as the CM is out of sight, the child is driving again.

If you don't like being clipped by strollers, then just stay out of their way.

LOL, nice.

Seriously, though, to the OP - sorry that you were hurt, and I'm glad that the Dis gives you a place to vent... but I hope that you realize that people who lack the common sense to prevent a child from pushing a stroller in a crowded area like WDW are not likely to have an epihpany from reading a forum post. ;)

THIS drives me nuts too. I have a 7yr, and a 5 yr old and I do not allow them to push ANYTHING. Accidents happen and I don't want my kid to be the one behind the stroller. Some people aren't as nice as you were to hold your tongue, for that I say thank-you. I do understand that it was a hard thing to do. The parent of the child should have apologized to you, manners went out the window I think, when year 2000 rolled in.

:thumbsup2 I totally agree, OP. My girls aren't allowed to push their strollers for that very reason.

Maybe you meant to say that the way people drive wheelchairs is unsafe. I don't think you meant for that to come off as if you're complaining that wheelchairs are in the parks, right?

Have to take exception to the tone here....haveing been in WDW in May and using a scooter I have to say that most people just step in front of the scooter without looking...I didn't bump into anyone but there were a lot of close calls...not looking for any special treatment being on a scooter however people are so engrossed in maps, phones, etc. that they just dont seem to look at where they are going. Perhaps because I ride a motorcycle I am more used to looking ahead and being prepared to stop is why I didnt bump into anyone but some responsibility also falls with people walking around being more aware as well....not looking to get into flame war here....just putting my 2 cents in....and yes I do agree practice using the scooter before hitting the parks.
