Please convince me to want to try Donald's Breakfastosaurus!!

IMHO Donalds was no better or worse than anyother buffet at WDW. We enjoyed the character interaction. We will definetly go back.

DD and I enjoyed this one. We were seated in a little side room that was decorated much less darkly than the main area. It felt like it took a while for the characters to get to us, but the guides made sure they did and all of the servers covering our room joked around and played practical jokes on all of the kids - sure kept DD entertained when they even showed her how some of the joke items worked and then gave her a water pistol to shoot the servers with. :) The interaction was similar to anywhere else we've been. I thought the food was fine (I really liked the french toast and DD *still* talks about the biscuits, but it's mainly normal buffet food.)

We enjoyed it, but would rather eat at Boma if choosing between the two. It took a while for the characters to finally get to us (we were done eating by then) but they were all quick to come to our table once they got to our area.

I am constantly amazed at how Donald's gets an overall bad rap for no reason. They have hot food that tastes good. In the three times we have been there it has been great every time. I do not believe we are just hitting it on "good" days. I have learned that if a place gets downgraded enough people will show up with the expectation that it will be subpar. The self-fulfilling prochecy will always be true. Go to Donald's with a good attitude and you will enjoy. I can find something wrong with everything if I look hard enough.
I am one who did not care a whole lot for Donald's either. Though I do have reasons for it. I have been to Crystal Palace several times and it is still my favorite breakfast buffet. But I wanted to try something new this year so I chose Donald's. I found that he selections at Donald's were not as good and not as fresh. Also Crystal Palace has a made to order omlet station and everything is always being replenished there. Also I found that at Donald's they rush the character's way more than I have ever seen at Crystal Palace or other Character Breakfast's. The character's would pratically pose while they were walking away. (That's a bit of an exaggeration, but that's what it felt like). Maybe CP made me biased...I just really did not enjoy Donald's as much as I though it would. In the future, I'll stick to ones that have less people.

I have been to CP as well. The food was fine there. However, the whole character argument is not valid in the sense that at CP it takes an extremely long drawn out time to see all of the characters. Sometimes after they do their march around the restaurant, the characters lose their place. It has happened. My family enjoyed CP, but the service and food has been more consistent at Donald's.

we go to Donalds each visit and have introduced our family to Donalds and friends too.....We always have the same server.....NANCY....she is a dear....the food has great choices and they will do anything for you ....all you have to do is ask. The characters even had a great time with just hubby and myself........last year we took our grandkids and they are both teens.......we had a blast........hope that someone will give it another chance.....

True I have seen that happen at CP, but overall in my experiences there, I was able to get alot more and better pictures with the characters at CP. Also another poster mentioned about not to expect to stand up at Donald's....totally true! The character's did not even give us a chance to stand up and take any pictures...they basically put their hands on our shoulders or just leaned over us so we couldn't stand up. I like being able to at least stand up and maybe get some different poses in...nothing fancy...but I couldn't get that here. Also again with Donald's there are only two different sections, the hot foods and the cold foods...the hot foods are set up in a small area and you need to wait in a long line and go thru the whole buffet even if you just want something at the very end. At CP as long as there are not people waiting right there you can walk up a station and just get something from that particular tray. It isn't all about the character's. I think the buffet overall is alot better at CP.

I respectfully disagree with this. We love Disney and all things Disney. The little things don't bother us...waiting for busses, crowds, etc. I've never been disappointed with anything during our vacations to WDW...until Donald's. I had no "expectations", therefore the argument that we went there expecting it to be subpar and nitpicking doesn't hold true. It simply was not a good experience for us.

Hearing the good AND the bad is what makes these boards great. :disrocks:

The boards are awesome for discussion. I just plain ol' disagree. That is ok though. I am planning to continue to have a great time at Donald's and invite everyone elso to do the same.

Well thanks to everyone who replied and gave their own feedback :) Of course, just like with anything else, we all have our own opinions. I knew I would receive mixed reviews and am fine with that :goodvibes . I just had not heard much about this character breakfast and wanted more info. So thanks again for all the reviews. I will go into the meal with an open mind (maybe not to expect TOO much) and just enjoy the character interaction. And I GUESS the french toast will have to cover me missing my Mickey waffles ;)
