FONT="Arial Black"]The 2008 Chair Swap List is NOW CLOSED to NEW REQUESTS[/FONT]

Sorry guys, I can't accept any new requests - but if you are supposed to on the list and I missed you - please send me a reminder. It has been a much bigger job than last year!

The Updated List is on the third page of this thread. I'll move it to the top once it's finalized.

 Thank You, starbox.... I can tell already that this year is going to be a real job to maintain. Glad are doing it again.

:beach:

Sorry we are going to miss you, but looks like we have many people overlapping with their stays. :thumbsup2

I have totally missed this thread. Can someone fill me in oh how this works? We will be at Vero June 17-19 and would possibly be interested in this.

I posted on the other thread and think you have my name and info but wanted to post here to be sure. Thanks for doing this! First trip to VB and I am sooo excited for June.

Arrive June 22, leaving June 26

Hi Starbox. Can I join the 2008 VB chair swap? I'll be there from May 2-9. Thanks!

I notice that there will be lots of Disers when we will be in VB in June, the 22 to 25th. I'll have at least 2 chairs to donate to the cause. If there's someone I can contact to incorporate them into the swap, I'll be happy to do so.

Bobbi:goodvibes

Please, please , please explain what this is and how it works for us VB Newbies! Thanks.

My first swap will be 8/2-8/8 2008, so I'll tell you what I know. Ok, Starbox is the coordinator of the swap. She is taking down all of the requests, and will compile a list ( or 2) of disboarders who are going to VB and their dates. I think she will caliculate up the total cost for 2 chairs, an umbrella, and a boogie board. Then the cost will be divided up by however many are on the list, and you will pay Starbox. Not sure how we pay her, maybe she tells us that in a pm. I think the cost only comes to like $15.00/person. These items will be left at guest services, tagged, and you pick them up when you check in. Then before you leave, you return them to guest services for the next person behind you on the list. Hopefully someone else who has done the swap can chime in. But thats about all I know of it so far. :goodvibes

Down July 21-25 was looking for chair swap but I see you and others will be there. We will have to set up a meet or just a friendly hello A drink by the pool or in the green room. Pm me if you would like to meet.

We will be at Vero April 8-15 and would love to participate. Many thanks for taking this on!

Not to be a buzzkill here, but I organized a 2nd swap for last year because so many of us wanted to swap. Mine wasn't as big as starbox's. Well, some of the CMs at VB gave us a hard time about it. Several of my swappers experienced it and let me know, and I was told by a CM when I was there that they weren't going to "allow it" anymore...not sure how they could do that, but I was wondering if starbox or anyone that was more involved last year heard anything similar? Hope all goes well, it's a fabulous idea!

Can you explain the process a little? I tried to explain it, but this will be my first swap, so I really don't know what to expect.

You did a great job in your post explaining how the swap works. That's basically what I did. We only had two chairs though. It was a smaller swap so I didn't want the cost to be too high. Swappers sent me checks, and I kept a list of swappers' real names, and told each swapper who they would be leaving it for. I was at VB a few swappers into the swap, so I put a list into the box when I go there. I ordered chairs from Amazon (so did Starbox) and had them delivered right to the resort in the first swappers' name. it all went very well, but a couple of the CMs didn't seem to like it and told me they would probably not "allow" it in the future, although like my DH said, what difference does it make to them, they just hold it like luggage or any other storage item. Starbox's swap was much bigger (I think she had a couple of them), so I am interested to hear if she ever got negative feedback from a CM.

Good luck!!

I didn't hear about any negative feedback from CM's. With so many people asking to join the cost will likely be lower this year - so maybe we should suggest that all swappers tip the CM's that bring the chairs to the room. (I'm sure most of us do this already). I don't really see how they could not allow it - it does not break any rules and swaps are awfully common among Disers. It's not like we're swapping a FRIDGE or anything........:rotfl:

I promise you all - I am working on the list!!!! It will be done SOON!
;)

I participated in Pooh's Pixie's chair swap this past October and had no problems with the CM's at all. I tipped the CM who got the chairs for me but the CM who put them back wouldn't accept anything. He thought it was a great idea. Heck if you have to rent two chairs and umbrella for 5/6 days it adds up fast.
Looking forward to particpating again in May.:woohoo:

Well, I am glad to hear that there wasn't as much negative feedback from the CMs as I thought...maybe it was just one grouch, and a couple of us heard from her. I agree, there isn't any rule against it and I didn't even have them bring it to my room, I just picked them up at the desk myself.

It is a great idea and hope it continues. Alas, I won't be at VB this year.

Long live the swap!

I'm going to have the lists made in the next few days and at that point NO ADDITIONS WILL BE MADE.

July is packed - but if you are travelling in March, April, May, or August I can probably work you in. There are limited spots open in July as well.

PLEASE PM ME ASAP to be added!!!! Thank You!!!!
