Plaza or Tony's??

I have changed my itinerary...again...and I am looking for some dinner help at the Magic Kingdom. I am looking at both Tony's and The Plaza, so which do you recommend? It will just be my mom and myself, and I eat pretty much anything. My mom doesn't eat red meat, but she's not overly picky when it comes to dining other than that.

I've never tried the Plaza, but I really enjoyed Tony's for lunch one day.

We love the Plaza. Good sandwiches, shakes and desserts. I don't know if I'll ever eat at Tony's. Can't get past the $19 plate of sketti and meatballs.

We really like Plaza Rest., but we think of it as more of a great lunch spot to sit & relax w/o a long wait. We've never tried Tony's, because of bad reviews. I've always wanted to though, & think I'll forget the reviews & give it a try soon. If you decide to go there, let us know what you think. (Especially, if you like it. )

I vote for Tony's. Despite all of the bad reviews, we've never had a bad meal at Tony's. We have two ADR's setup for our next trip in November. One for lunch, and one for dinner. I would give it a try!

We've always been happy with the Plaza. A hidden gem. Nothing fancy, just nice.

We've eaten at both. Love the Plaza restaurant: generous portions (especially the desserts!!), small menu of salads, burgers, and sandwiches that are tastily prepared. It's also really pretty inside. As for Tony's, we ate there last year and were not impressed at all. The noise level is unbelievable, the food is not even close to worth the money, and we were extremely disappointed. I'm Italian, so my standards for Italian food are pretty high, but this didn't even come close to meeting my much-reduced expectations.

I agree with flyball. I'm Italian too and Tony's doesn't even come close, as far as I'm concerned. My kids thought it to be just "eh" at best. My non-Italian nephew thought it was great. Now the Plaza....that's the spot!!! But as other posters have said, if you have the time, try them both. Every restaurant isn't for everybody.

I would choose Tony's especially for dinner. It has a nice atmosphere and despite the bad reviews, it has very good food (at least in my opinion). I recall Tony's as being one of our favorite places along with Le Cellier, Mama Melrose and Coral Reef when we visited WDW in January.

If you want a smaller, more casual, "soda shoppe-y" atmosphere and sandwiches, sundaes, and burgers to eat, go for the Plaza. Cheaper than Tony's, too.

If you want more of a nice, sit down "restaurant-y" meal, with appy, entree that you eat w/a knife and fork, and like Italian and don't mind paying for it, go for Tony's.

We have had both and like them both.

Thanks for all the help everyone! I am going to try and get a ressie at the Plaza tomorrow. The MK will be our second park on this day, and we are looking for a dinner before Spectro and Wishes, so I think this will be perfect and a litle lighter. I had never even considered the Plaza before, but I have heard that it is a great little hidden gem and this seems the perfect time to try it. I'll let you all know if I get ressies!!

We have not had dinner at Tony's in quite a while, but will try it again on our next trip. We have had dinner at the Plaza several times and really like the sandwiches, burgers and salads there, not to mention the ice cream desserts. The Plaza's prices are significantly lower, too.

We also really like the Plaza, we eat there most every trip. I just made an ADR for dinner on 7/29. My 11 year old always wants to eat here, loves the burger!

I think you'll be really happy with the Plaza. It's simple, but we've never had a bad meal there. And my husband LOVES their ice cream BTW, does MWC stand for Mary Washington College??
