Has anyone done the breakfast at Plaza inn and been solo? I really fancy it for my trip in September but am not sure if i'll enjoy it as much or even find it awkward being solo? are there CM around constantly to take photos for me with the characters?
Yes, couple of times. There's not always a CM around, but if no a neighbor table usually is happy to help. Fairy Godmother and Dale even went off to find us a photographer when no one was near.
I didn't do Plaza solo - I met up with a Dis-er also celebrating her birthday and we combined our two solo reservations into one reservation for two - but I've done almost every other character meal at DL solo and several at WDW as well. Servers will help when they can as will character handlers, when one of them isn't available either a nearby table has immediately offered or the character has gone and "asked" someone to take the picture. I'll often ask a nearby table before any characters arrive if they'd mind. And I ALWAYS volunteer to take group shots for the tables around me which helps spread the goodwill too.
