Plaza Inn Character Meal ??

I have the 2006 Birnbaum's, and it lists Plaza Inn as having "an extremely popular Character Breakfast" until 11 AM, and that it has Cinderella, Fairy Godmother, and other "royals" making the rounds. Yet here on the boards, I think I've read that it's Minnie Mouse and company, rather than the Princesses.

So, is the Plaza Inn still a host to a Princess character breakfast? When I booked our trip, I paid for 2 character meals with the package, including the Princess Celebration meal, at Ariel's Grotto, in DCA. I have no idea where that is, although Birnbaum's lists it as in Paradise Pier. (We didn't spend a lot of time exploring DCA last year. We will get to know it more this year) In Birnbaum's, it lists Ariel's Grotto characters as being Mickey, Minnie, etc. So, is this outdated?

And, am I complete loon (and please, tell it like it is! LOL) or is the Birnbaum's map for DCA outdated?

I just want to be sure I get to the right place. I know both my kids would enjoy a meal where we saw a lot of the Princesses, and got their autographs, and I want to get find the right place.

Ariels Grotto is Princess.. It is over by the walk way up to CA screamin. we saw Cindy, Ariel, Aurora, Snow White, BElle, and a prince.

Can not answer about the other one as we have not been.

I'd say Birnbaums might have been printed before they changed it..

The 2006 Edition is published in August of 2005 - that's when they can change the pub date. To be in bookstores then, the book has to be to the printer by May/June. You're looking at info that was written in Spring of 2005, so a lot has changed. Usually, when a guidebook is published, 20% of the info is already outdated!

Use the book as a "guide." The best thing is to always contact Disney direct to confirm any ride/event/meal you have your heart set on shortly before you leave.

As for the meals, from what I gather hear on teh board, the Plaza Inn has Minnie and friends, and Ariel's in DCA has all the princesses -- at least for the moment

That is correct and I've heard no rumors of any changes any time soon.

We went to the Plaza Inn breakfast yesterday, the characters present were: Minnie, Chip, Dale, Tigger, Eeyore, Pooh and the Fairy Godmother.

Fairy Godmother never made her way over to our table and left early, but otherwise all the other characters came by our table, Minnie Mouse twice.

The character meals at Disneyland have changed quite a bit over the last couple of years. Plaza Inn once upon a time was Pooh and Friends, then it became Princess themed and now is Minnie and friends. Ariels Grotto was briefly called Cap'n Mickey's/Ariel's Grotto which featured Mickey and friends decked out in nautically themed clothes. This theme/character roster didn't even last long enough to completely change the name! Now it is all the way back to being Ariel's Grotto and is a Princess lunch/dinner, no Mickey. I have bought the Birnbaums' Guide for three years and as another poster stated, it is generally outdated by the time you buy it!

Can anyone tell me is Ariel sitting in the lobby when you walk downstairs or is she walking around? We have the meal booked and was just curious as we have never seen Ariel walking, however I recently saw a picture of Ariel walking at a charater meal, just not sure which one.

She'll show up with the other princesses, walking. They made a big deal out of how Ariel asked her father for legs for just that day or something like that the last time we were there.
