Playstation 3 or XBox or Wii?

All I really know is the XBox 360 has the Kinect however there aren't really much sales on the kiddie games right now, Playstation 3 can play Blu Ray movies. Wii has tons of the games on sale on Amazon. My older sons like the Madden sports games like football, car racing games, and those Lego games like Star Wars. What system do you think is best or are they all pretty much equal?

If he's going to play the sports games heavily, go with either XBox or PS3. We have a PS3 so we're biased towards that.....

It depends on the ages of your kids and how you will be using it.

My top choice is the PS3. It plays blu-rays, it streams netflix, its HD, has other features and has a good selection of games.

If you only want it to play games and your kids are younger, I think Wii is the better choice. It has the most kid friendly games and is the only system with Mario games. It can also stream netflix and I believe is a cheaper unit.

Xbox IMO is geared more towards teenage boys and men.

ETA: The Kinect is suppose to be pretty cool, however, for me personally if we only had one system I wouldn't choose it based on this.

We have both-
For the lego games - hands down on the XBOX.
Sports games- also Xbox-
BUT you pay for online play

PS3-
Warhawk!!!(greatest game ever)
Blu-Ray
Free Online Play
Also has Playstation eye thing similar to the Kinect but you need a controller.

Just curious, why do you say the lego games are best on the xbox? We've got them all for the PS3, haven't tried them on the Xbox.

So for the Lego games, XBox is the best system?

My oldest will turn 13 next year.

I would go for and XBOX360 and we had all three. The xbox is much cheaper than a PS3 and much better product our PS3 died after a year we had to get it fix just so it died again. We also love our Wii but it doesn't play any DVD or bluray and the graphics aren't as good.

I was going to get my soon to be 8 year old a PS3 but decided against it. We have two Wii's, 2 DSi XL's, and a PS2. Given that we have a Wii in our master bedroom that we mainly use to watch Netflix movies now (sometimes games) and the one in the family room is used for Wii, my daughter wants to play games by herself in her room sometimes. I opted to get yet another Wii for her room exclusively (red one), this way she can use the games we already have and I can buy additional ones for that can be used in the other rooms too. When the PS3 drops in price (i want it with the motion bundle), then I'll probably get the girls one at some point. The PS3 with the motion bundle is so expensive, whereas the Wii does the same basic games things so that is why I went with the Wii yet again.

We have XBOX360 with Kinect and Wii.
We seem to keep going back to the XBOX for new games, especially now with the Kinect.

I think it just depends on your preference.

We have no desire to purchase BluRay Dics when we have so many DVDs....so that helped us decide.

Just curious, why do you say the lego games are best on the xbox? We've got them all for the PS3, haven't tried them on the Xbox.

In our experience the game was easier to navigate on the XBOX-But my kids that are playing the Lego games are 8 and 5.
Also I think that the parental controls are a bit better on the xbox.

The "hot" game right now is Call of Duty Black ops among the teen set(I also have a 16 year old). That is an xbox game.

Actually the best thing to do if you are going to allow online play is to find out what systems his friends have- so he'll be able to play with them online. Chances are it's an xbox.

That being said though we are on our 4th XBOX because the first 3 broke. (xbox did take care of us though and I believe they have fixed most of the problems)
jmho-
On PS3 our most played game is Little Big Planet- a FANTASTIC game. Teaches basic programing skills.Kids actually can create their own levels for the game- yesterday my 8 year old made a Holiday level with Christmas music prompts- so cute. And Little Big Planet 2 is coming out in January I believe and it looks even better!!

To sum up- we basically play 2 games regularly on the PS3 Warwawk and Little Big Planet. Every other game is on the XBOX. The blu ray feature is one that we do use on the PS3 but they are so cheap right now I wouldn't use that as my deciding factor.

We have both Xbox360 and PS3 with online capabilities. My son and his friends love the Xbox and play it way more than the PS3. I've been told that the games load faster and online play is more fun because so many kids have Xbox versus PS3. There are lots of sports games played here even when DS is home alone he's playing with his friends. Perfect for a snowy day or late evening when the homework is done. Older kids don't seem to like Wii although many Xbox players are going for Kinect so I'm not sure what that's about. Perhaps just an enhancement to their already fav gaming system.

w have a Wii and just got an Xbox with Kinect (kids have an uncle who poils them, lol). My kids love the Wii but the Kinect was a huge hit. The game that game with it is perfect for younger kids and there is Kinanimal (or something like that) that is geared towards the younger set. At an open house we had, all 3 generations joined in the Dance game. People were laughing like crazy.

We have all three and by far the one that gets the most play time is the XBox 360. Like a previous poster, we play a lot of Little Big Planet on our PS3. We have other PS3 games and they do get played but not all that often. When Little Big Planet 2 comes out in January I'm sure the PS3 will be on most of the time but until then we probably won't use it much.

We love the Wii, and it has great exclusive titles. The Mario games, Wii Sports and Animal Crossing are addictive. Right now I'm playing Epic Mickey and I love it. But the Wii's graphics aren't as good as the other systems and the online play is almost nonexistent, so anything that is available on multiple consoles we don't get for the Wii.

The 360 is our go-to system. Any game that is available on multiple consoles we buy for the 360. I like the user interface and the controller better on the 360 than the PS3. The 360 can stream Netflix, as can the PS3. With the recent update, the 360 can also stream ESPN content. Even though you have to buy a Gold membership to play online or use Netlix or ESPN, we still prefer XBox Live to Playstation Network. The most popular XBox games are the big first person shooters that primarily seem to appeal to boys and men, but there are lots of other great games available as well. The music, racing and Lego games are especially good. (And Lego Pirates of the Caribbean was just announced - it should be really cute!)

We also have all 3 systems and the Xbox 360 is definitely the most used for gaming.
The Wii is great for the younger kids, and like mentioned above, the exclusive games are really good! My daughter uses it in her room and streams Netflix on it.
The PS3 is great because it also plays BluRay and online gaming does not require a subscription. We also use it for Netflix. Playing games is a bit more difficult than on Xbox (according to my son) because the controller requires you to use more buttons. My son also watches Youtube videos on the PS3.
The Xbox is great, plays games, Netflix, dvd's, etc...the downside is the online gaming cost you. All of my sons friends have Xbox 360, so they play COD and all those types of games together. My husbands friends all have PS3, so they all play together on there.
