I say CCV over Poly for FW. FW for a 2 bed only makes sense if it during Christmas time. Also, I would only buy if you would use it.
Just keep in mind that if each child gets a 100-point contract, none of them will be eligible for Membership Extras, assuming DVC doesn’t change the rules requiring them each to own enough points to qualify under the rules in effect when the contract was originally purchased, which currently is of course 150 points.I have three children, I like the idea of having one contract for each if we ever wanted to pass them down.
100x3 CCVI am debating on adding on direct at either Poly or CCV with the current round of incentives. We are going to pull the trigger on the 9th so we are locked into this round but can take a peak at the next round as well. We are a family of 5 ( twin girls just turned 1and a 5 year old son). We are either going to be staying in 1 or two bedrooms.
Would you rather a favorite week in a 1 bedroom at Poly or a favorite week in a 2 bedroom CCV? Third option is splitting the contract into three 100 point contracts. The splitting is the option I am leaning towards but would like perspectives from the board to see if I may be overlooking something. Thanks!
But if they cared enough they would only need to purchase a small amount… and if not 100 would be a nice bonus to sell. (Is it possible to sell it or to decline so a sibling could get it?)Just keep in mind that if each child gets a 100-point contract, none of them will be eligible for Membership Extras, assuming DVC doesn’t change the rules requiring them each to own enough points to qualify under the rules in effect when the contract was originally purchased, which currently is of course 150 points.
That 1 bedroom ccv is wonderful in the winter. I am jealous. Enjoy it! Id love to add there tooTyping this from my CCV 1 BR! I'm giving some serious thought to adding on 300 direct CCV points too, although just 2 children (and definitely no more). I've thought a little bit about doing 2 FW studios in early December plus a small contract to get to 300, but the thing is, I have absolutely zero interest in ever staying in a studio. So, the only purpose would be as a resale hedge. I'd be cancelling it every year and using the points to book 1 or 2 BRs. At the moment, I'm not quite convinced of the benefits of a resale hedge, particularly at a non-restricted resort. I'm honestly not sure most resale buyers even understand what they are - I suppose that could change in the future. And, with the new $500 CAF, I'm feeling much more indifferent about trying to break any points purchase up into smaller increments than I really personally need. So, if I end up buying 300, I imagine I'm just going to to do 2x150.
So, unless you have really do see yourself using the FW, I just don't see much reason to do it. And, I would also have some hesitation about a 1 or 2 BR FW and whether that would be more difficult to sell, than 3x100 contracts. So, I'd say go for the 3x100 option.
You would have really liked it these past few days! The coldest weather in FL in over 10 years, I'm told. Of course, my kids were both swimming in the pool yesterday - with temps in the mid-50sThat 1 bedroom ccv is wonderful in the winter. I am jealous. Enjoy it! Id love to add there too![]()

This line of thinking had me anti-FW for a long time. I never stay Sunday to Sunday, don't prefer studios, etc.Typing this from my CCV 1 BR! If you are leaning CCV? I would get the FW. This resort is insanely popular in the holiday season, and the low-point periods in December are popular in general.Week 49 or 50 is 329 points for a 2BR (at CCV)
There are only three temperatures that matter in an Orlando Winter. You would have really liked it these past few days! The coldest weather in FL in over 10 years, I'm told. Of course, my kids were both swimming in the pool yesterday - with temps in the mid-50s![]()

I can totally see that making sense too. Of course, I have a feeling even when it is just me and my wife, I'm not sure we can deal with a queen size bed - haha. That said, I think there is very little downside to a FW studio - other than Christmas and Easter, at CCV, you're looking a contract that is under 150 points, which is already small, and it does grant that guaranteed booking. This line of thinking had me anti-FW for a long time. I never stay Sunday to Sunday, don't prefer studios, etc.
Then I realized that once the kids are out on their own, my wife and I will likely stay in studios quite often, and days of the week will cease to have meaning once we are retired. My extended family also would be fine in a studio. All of that combined with the difficulty of getting a studio at CCV in the early Christmas weeks tipped the scales for me.
TBH though, I didn't spend a ton of time thinking it over![]()
Checked the FW thread. I think that would be 377 points if I'm looking at the right week. I don't think I can talk myself into that many points, and I just really worry how difficult a contract that size would be to offload. Plus, if I were to book an actual 2 BR, it would be less points, and I don't think a 2 BR that week is that difficult to book - not even sure it requires walking if you're ok with a dedicated 2 BR.Hmmm. I think for me that would be a Thanksgiving week 2 BR. May just ask my guide about that. Probably not, but maybe.
I will say, I also got in the water. And, TBH, if you stayed in the water, it wasn't too bad. Getting out was a bit brutal though. The hot tubs also were very nice, and very empty. There are only three temperatures that matter in an Orlando Winter.
Warm: Everyone is willing to swim.
Cold: No one is wiling to swim.
KId-Warm: Self-explanatory.
Yep, it was interesting. We did the after hours on Wednesday night and froze our asses off, even in pants hoodies and jackets it was just freezing, slinky dog was torture. lolYou would have really liked it these past few days! I mentioned it elsewhere, but the king bed is what has me sold on villas! It just feels like vacation. lolThis line of thinking had me anti-FW for a long time. I never stay Sunday to Sunday, don't prefer studios, etc.

Family of five……you’re gonna need a two bedroomI am debating on adding on direct at either Poly or CCV with the current round of incentives. I experienced my first "try to book early December" stay recently, it's pretty crazy how fast those reservations fill up in general not just at FW either. If you are leaning CCV? I would get the FW. This resort is insanely popular in the holiday season, and the low-point periods in December are popular in general.
However, that's largely because I do not care about resale value---I care about vacations. I am almost certainly in the minority vs. other DISers on this.
Week 51 is typically the week WITH Christmas in it. Week 52 is the week between Christmas/New Years. So you might be thinking of weeks 48-50. Weeks 50-52 typically have block out dates for the using the Sorcerer Pass, so understand that you'd probably need to buy the more expensive pass and plan for crazy crowds.

I hear people say this often. We have a queen size bed at home and we co slept for 2 years!! When we stay in hotels the king size bed feels sooo big and I dont love it. I am such a weirdo I know.I can totally see that making sense too. Of course, I have a feeling even when it is just me and my wife, I'm not sure we can deal with a queen size bed - haha.
