Playing Nanny At WDW

Cast:

SBD (me)

DSIS (sister)

DBIL (sister’s husband)

Pooh Bear pooh: (DN7) – 7 year old nephew. Lovable and cuddly just like Winnie the Pooh.

Stitch :stitch2: (DN6) – Like the character Stitch he is a really good little boy but tends to get into mischief.

DH – My sweet husband

Dad – Sweetest dad in the world

Around 4 o’clock in the afternoon one day my cell phone rings. It is DSIS. The first thing she says is I need you to do me a big favor. Of course I am thinking she needs me to baby-sit. Ok no big deal.

SBD: “What do you need me to do?”
DSIS: “I need you to go to Walt Disney World with me”
SBD: “What?”
DSIS: “Well it is either you baby-sit there or you baby-sit here at home. I have a conference I have to work and I need you to help with the boys. I want to take them with me but I can only take them if you go.
SBD: “I’m not sure I can afford it what with going in October.”
Dad: {listening to my side of the conversation}”I am sure we can figure something out” meaning he will pay for me to go.
SBD: “Ok DSIS, I can go. When is it and how much will it cost so I can let Dad know?”

This started the whole process of planning and obsessing. With in a day DSIS had found the Disboards and we started making itineraries and packing lists. Of course once I found out about the boards I was soon going to Home Depot and rescuing poor MHPC’s from captivity.

Up next: The tickets are on their way to my house.

DSIS called me a day or two after we originally decided to go and told me that the park tickets would be sent to my house since they were put on Dad’s credit card. The plane tickets would be taken care of later and the room is booked by way of DSIS’s work because of the conference. We unfortunately won’t be able to do the dining plan because the room had to be booked separate from everything else.

A day or two later I get another call.
DSIS: Why don’t we take the boys to MNSSHP? We can get their costumes at DTD and have lunch at the Rainforest Café.”
SBD: “Are we also going to dress up in costume or just let the boys do it?”
DSIS: “No. We will just let the boys dress up.” (Yeah right later on this changed to we are all going to be pirates :rotfl: )
So DSIS ordered the tickets for MNSSHP to be shipped to my house as well.

Next thing to take care of were a couple of ADR’s.
I received an email titled Have time to make a phone call? It may involve holding for a while (which is why I can't do it from work)
Since I work from home (have a small dress making business) I can easily take care of this.
First line of business was to figure out which restaurants I could actually eat at that DSIS also wanted to eat at. This is challenging as I have food allergies that are to commonly used ingredients in restaurant recipes.

We decided on DTD’s Rainforest Café for lunch Friday, Tony’s would be for dinner on Sunday, and the Garden Grill for lunch on Tuesday.
As you can see we were pretty much set. And since I will be on a strict budget it was perfect for me cost wise with our choices. Then I get another email asking me if DSIS paid for my meal how about one more character meal. The original thought was to try to get an ADR for Liberty Tree Tavern Friday night but we decided instead to go with Saturday night which worked out much better time wise for us. So now all of our ADR’s are set, we just have to plan our days out. Normally I would not have done this but with DSIS working we have to in order for us to get anything done together. She is great with computers and soon had a spreadsheet of our itinerary and packing lists done. She emailed them to me and I had Dad laminate them for us along with some ID cards for the boys that we could attach to the belt loops on their clothing.

Up Next: Baggallini? What’s that?

Another email from DSIS asking me if I had ever heard of a Baggallini. Nope never have. So she sends me a link to a web site that sells them. She is getting the Dark olive green one. I show dad and sure enough “Go ahead and order one if you like it”. Yes!!! So which color to get? DSIS is already getting the olive green one (which is one of my favorite colors) so I don’t want to get the same thing. I would hate to have our bags get mixed up while at WDW and her needing something for the work conference. So it was a toss up between the Espresso and the Spice. Since I couldn’t decide I asked Dad which he liked better. “Go with the Spice because it looks like a nice earthy brown color” so that is what I got. In the same day DSIS also ordered us each a pair of Mary Jane Crocs. Little by little we are getting ready for the trip.

A few days later the Baggallini arrives. The color is lighter in person than what it looks like online. It actually looks like a pumpkin orange. Not bad but not what I had been expecting. I was expecting an orangey brown and it is more of a brownish orange. I of course immediately start putting necessary WDW things in it like the luggage tags and tickets so they would not get lost. I also attached a LGMHPC right away to it. DH of course asked if he would be getting a Baggallini and if so could he have a LGMHPC too for when we go in October? I of course told him sure no problem (all the while I had been planning this anyway so his asking just made it that much easier).

Now that I have my Baggallini all I had to wait on were my Crocs. A week later and DSIS called to tell me they were in. Since DH and I were going to be in her area that day anyway I arranged to go pick them up from her. I was wearing tennis shoes and socks but took them off to try out my new shoes. Right away I could feel how comfortable they were. Except for a few necessary times I have been wearing pretty much nothing but Crocs since then. I of course just had to buy some Athens and I also convinced DH that he should get a pair of the Beach. I am waiting for the Disney line to come out before I get some Beach for myself though. Of course once I found out there is a Crocs store at MCO I told DSIS and we have decided we will have to check it out when we get there. So I may just end up with a new pair in WDW after all.

I almost forgot, the bag and shoes weren’t the only thing I got new for the trip. Dad also got me a new swim suit. I had commented to him that I had read on Disney’s web site that you are not supposed to wear suits with metal buckles at the water parks. Now DSIS and I are not doing the WP’s but the main pool at CSR has a water slide and I figured the same rule applied to it. My other swim suit has metal on it, Dad knows this and knows also that I am lucky if I don’t show the world what I have been gifted with when wearing said suit. I have tried in the past to correct that problem but I still feel uncomfortable wearing it in a crowded pool environment. So yet another package to arrive for me Woo Hoo.

I also forgot to mention I bought a Passporter Deluxe. Not sure how I would have lived without it now that I actually have one. DSIS got the regular but since DH and I plan on going at least once a year for the next 3 years I thought the Deluxe would be worth it.

stinkerbelle's mom ~ I am afraid not what with 2 daughters and their DH's, 2 step daughters and their DH's he has his hands full at the moment :lmao:

plgrn ~ Yes and it is only getting worse :rotfl2:

The night before we were to leave I said good bye to DH and drove the hour to DSIS’s house. DH was on night shift at work and our plane was to leave at 7:55am so it was decided that I would just spend the night at DSIS’s house. On my way I stopped to pick up a quick dinner for myself as DSIS was getting her family hamburgers from Wendy’s. When I got to her house I ate quickly then we loaded the luggage into my car.

Now DSIS and her family have been living half in a FEMA trailer and half in their house because it flooded last year during Hurricane Katrina and the whole first floor had to be redone. So they have the upstairs livable and use the trailer for cooking, eating, ect… Since the spare room is currently used as a store room and DSIS did not want to have to disturb DBIL so early in the morning DSIS and I slept in the trailer. Or tried to that is. Like so many before us we were unable to sleep much from the excitement. It wasn’t long before we had to get up and get ready to go. DSIS woke the boys up and got herself ready in the house while I got ready in the trailer. We managed to actually leave when we planned to in order to get to the airport on time.

While going thru the security pooh: thought he was supposed to stop in the middle of the metal detector and ended up having the security personnel laughing. Once thru security we went straight to the nearest vendor and got a cup of water for medicines to be taken. Then it was on to our gate to wait for boarding. We were lucky enough to be among the first group boarded so we didn’t have any trouble choosing seats. The flight was thankfully short in duration and watching the expressions on pooh: and :stitch2: faces at take off and landing was priceless. It was the first time for pooh: to ever fly and the last time :stitch2: flew he was only a few months old.

On the plane to Orlando

Once at the airport in Orlando we went straight to the DME and got onto the bus. I was surprised at how fast time went by as it seemed like no time at all before I was seeing the welcome sign to Disney.

First stop for the bus was at POP Century so I took a few pictures of it.

Then came our resort stop. The Coronado Springs Resort.

I fell in love with it almost immediately. Our room was on the fourth floor of Casitas 5 with a waterfront view. The first thing we saw when we opened the door was this

My sister had ordered it not long after we found out we were going to WDW. The boys believe it was a gift from Mickey Mouse.

One of the first things I did was to put my giant sized LGMH on the door (it was still there when we left because I forgot to take it down when packing).
After that we headed for Downtown Disney to get the boys costumes for that nights MNSSHP.

Al and Kate's Mom ~ Thanks. I was worried it would be boring.

UtahMama ~ Yes DSIS does DIS. She is ssleblanc. She tends to stick mainly to the Theme Parks and Strategies and the Restaurant boards.

PrincessV ~ Thanks

ottawa_lynne ~ Oh I had lots of fun and there is more to come as DH and I go for our anniversary in 25 days :cool1:

NJOGRE ~ Unfortunately the person we ordered it from ~ Peggy's Sweets ~ is no longer doing baskets because she got a full time teaching job.

Glad you are back Sleeping Beauty! We missed you! Great TR so far! Did you like CS? Have you stayed at other mods - How does it compare?

PigletFairy ~ Yes I just loved it. Can't wait till I can stay there again. Maybe next summer.

S.Poppins ~ This was the first time I ever stayed onsite (last time I was at WDW all they had was the Contemporary and it wasn't even a resort nearly 20 years ago). I did love it though and plan on staying there again as well as eventually POR. My up coming trip with DH will be at ASMovies so I will get to see the difference between moderate and value.
