Playing HM Against Your Clone??

It is much easier to play with a friend and do like was posted before in another thread with shaking the coffins and such than trying to play with 2 players of your own. Yes it can be done, but unless you know how to do it properly you are wasting your time. Beside if everyone now starts trying to play a game with themselves and a mule, you will never get a game up to play.

ok i am very confused LOL

see its never to late to learn something. In detail. how do you control both players??

I'm not very good at this so if it sounds weird I am sorry! But here it goes!...

For Internet Explorer, you must have the Log In page saved to your favorites in order to be able to Maximize it. To do this go to the Homepage and open up the Log In page like you would regularly do. When it is done loading right click, then click on "Add to Favorites..." and save it. Now you can close the Log In that you just opened and Open a NEW Internet. Then go to your Favorites and click on the Log In page that you just saved. You do this Twice to get 2 SEPERATE Internets open. (I don't think it will work if you have the Internet that has the Tabs on the top. for those who know what I'm talking about :)) Log 1 Person in at a time, if you don't you will get an error when trying to do both at the same time. (for those who don't know) :thumbsup2

Now when you have both players signed in and in the same room, start a game and your other joins on the opposite side. When the game starts make sure you click on both Internets to activate them. (if you use the arrow key when playing I'm not sure if it will work) Make sure you don't leave 1 Minimized. Both need to be Full screen. When you see that both players are moving, try to get them by eachother so you move as 1. This way when there are Pink and Green together you will get the ghost no matter what. And Play like you would always do! :thumbsup2

REMEMBER:
The only way you can control BOTH players is if you have 2 seperate Internets open with BOTH of them Maiximized. You must make sure that when the game starts you click on 1 player then click on the other (but remember have them both Maximized! If you Minimize 1 and don't bring it back up it won't work). And have your 2 player together it will be easier to keep track of them. :)

interesting, guess I need to just try it to get a clear picture.

i just play against my wife and we get between 850-1000 points each in a 3 round game

Do I see you starting a contest to see who can get the highest combined scores? Count me in!! :lmao:

Well, I am sure I would not win any contest because I STINK at mansion.

But, thanks guys for the tips. My second try with the full screen "ghosting with yourself" method, I got 810 credits plus a 180 bonus. Woot! :goodvibes

Sigh. I still miss old fireworks and like pirates better.

Oh well. This definitely helps! Thanks again :)

I can see both characters almost completely? I don't see the problem?
Then again my monitor resolution is at 1440 x 900?

And you can do VMKPAL + IE. They both respond the same, probably because they are the same.

I had to see what the fuss was about so I tried it, I earn way more playing with others even if you combine the to totals, but it is fun for a laugh.

You have to try it with someone else doing the same thing. (You have to players one of each color and have a parter do with a player of each color also. It is such a blast! We couldn't stop laughing family thinks we are nuts.

Curiostity got the cat, or maybe I should say Car.
While it was entertaining and even fun, three of the four times I played this way one dc, a big disappointment especially the one in the third round. Both times it was the screen I was NOT playing on, if it matters.

Now to clarify or simplify the above: I used Pal, did not max out the screens, just kept them one over the other how they are normally and tried not to get both characters wrong color at the same time. Even the game that didn't dc one of them, I didn't feel the credits were significantly better, especially considering the risk and hassle.

I would like to try playing sometime with two friends, alternating who plays alone, sometime if anyones' interested.

I would say that is a good summary of what most people will find. Best to find some friends that enjoy playing together.

I honestly didn't even know that this could be done. Wow ~ learn something new everyday huh?

But based on what everyone has said, that has recently tried playing mansion this way, it certainly doesn't seem like it is worth it at all.

I agree, it is not only more fun to play Mansion with friends, but it is also nice to depend on people that won't quit the game either, unless they dc of course. Even better! :thumbsup2

If you are a good player, and play a three round game one on one against another good player, you can easily make 700 or more credits in a game. I probably average around 750 a game when I play against a good player. Plus when you are playing one on one, you spend less time waiting around for all the other players to be ready to play.

your all saying you make more credits by playing a single game against someone , but are you not including the fact your clone got credits? I havent done it still, but arent you and your clone getting decent credits so arent you really slaying it?

actually aengus, i have done this a few times, it does not really work all that well. One charachter will get lots of credits and the other wont. I make more playing one game with one charachter than trying the "clone" thing.

Wow! I'm feeling really stupid right now...

I actually would sit there in front of the main computer AND put my laptop on the desk nearby. Moved one character with one mouse/keyboard and then would hop over to other mouse/keyboard and move the other... back and forth I went between 2 computers sucking up ghosts for both characters... LOL! :teeth:

Hanging my head in shame now... DUH!

:rotfl2: dont worry your not alone I do that too!! Its more entertaining!!! Well my brother thinks so anyways, he stands there watching me jump from computer to computer laughing his head off, you'd think he'd help once in a while!! :lmao: :lmao:

Really? When I do it, both characters get pretty close to the same amount, usually within 50 credits of each other. That's weird.

i've just tried it and it works really well :) im actually doing well at mansion now!!!
for people with the tabbed IE you cant just open 2 tabs, you have to open IE two seperate times then make sure your on the vmk tab for each and then follow the rest of the instructions!!

Now, I will add just one other comment on this that really amazed me since the thread opened. Is this the same board, where thread after thread people bash people for using Mules and sucking up there chances to win this or participate in that and debate the validity of using them at all. those of you that chose to do this so be it but remember if you have a problem with people using mules to do something else, then someone probably has issues with yopu doing this. I present a similar argument for edification, or at least as devils advicate. The mansion can only take so many games before it fils up, if everyone is playing with their mules, you are taking away others peoples opportunities to earn credit. Additionaly the agument can not be made that the game was set up to operate this way. I think people can play however they want, If they are that bored with other people then whatever they want to do, but I find it amazing everytime someone doesn't get something or can't do something they blame mules. Then we turn around and have a discusion on how we can milk more credit from the game with mules totaly outside the frame work of how the game was designed. I'm just throwing this out here as food for thought.

For the most part, this only works when the game is not very busy. So the primary argument against muling does not even apply here. This is not the same as playing a quest over and over to get the top times or crowding other players out of host rooms or competitions.

And it would be simple enough, technically, for the game to be changed so that only the top window responds to the mouse and keyboard. In fact, it's interesting to note that the pirates game has had the necessary changes made; otherwise, it would be borderline impossible to play that game with more than one account at a time. The opposite is true with Haunted Mansion. So someone somewhere must have actively decided that they want to allow players to play those games 'against themselves.' Otherwise, they would have left POTC alone and 'fixed' Mansion. This isn't a case of exploiting a bug; it's a feature.
