Playing CD's..

First off - hello to all our DISFriends across the pond

Quick question...we've made "homemade" music CD's to send in the Christmas card exchange...will our North American formatted CD's work there?

I know the videos I sent to my friend in Australia won't work - PAL vs. NSTC or some such thing...just wanted to make sure audio stuff isn't the same problem

I dont really know about homemade audio cd's I would imagine they would be fine, but Im sure somebody with more knowledge of these, will let you know.

However I have bought lots of Audio Cd's in music stores while I have been there on holidays and they all work fine.

There are no special "regions" on audio CDs - only on DVDs and videos. So your CDs should work fine anywhere in the world! The only exception is that some very old CD players (not just in the UK but all over the place) seem not to play CD-Rs, i.e. the CDs used for "homemade" CDs. That's increasingly rare these days though, and I personally have never had a problem. I've received CDs (homemade and shop-bought) from the USA, other parts of Europe, Australia, etc. and they've all been absolutely fine!

Of course we would only be putting our own 'home made' music on these cd's and not any copyrighted material wouldn't we

We make homemade CD's for DH's family in CA and have never had a problem. The CD's are always one of the highlights of the in-laws Christmas!
